Is this Nikon a good quality camera?

If you have this camera is it good? I want a nice quality picture camera? If You have another suggestion, i'd be pleased to read it. My price range is 500 or lower.

The D3100 is really close to your price range and you might want to stretch a little. If money is tight, then this camera will be fine. It's about the person taking the picture in the end.

Yes, Nikon is a very good brand and the d3000 is really neat. The main difference (in my opinion) between a Nikon and a Canon is that Canons are better at taking pictures of fast moving things, such as sport events or similar, while Nikons have a better colour capture compared to the other.

But if you want my opinion, more than the body you should pay for lenses. Hence you asked this question I assume that you are a novice in photography so it wouldn't really change much for you the quality of the body. I suggest you check out Pentax machines or older versions of Nikons as well to save some money on the body and buy two lenses. The standard 18x55mm one gets boring real quick while with a different lens at hand you double the fun.
