How to get oil residue off a dslr?

I have a nikon d40 and the plastic has this shine that makes the camera look grimy. I feel like it's probably from natural oils from the skin but it would be nice to have the plastic go back to that nice matte look. Is there any cleaning solution that could restore the camera's new look?

Nikon D3100 trouble shooting, adjustment dial doesn't adjust?

I have been using my D3100 extensively since purchasing it in august 2011, one night a friend used it for 5 minutes to take pictures of my fiance and i, ever since then i have been unable to adjust any of the settings manually (while in ANY of the M, A, S, P settings) using the dial that sits directly across from the "AE-L AF-L" button.(which is the dial i have always used) I have tried trouble shooting this 100 ways, but to no avail… Please tell me what my friend did!

What one of these lenses would you buy and why?

http://www.amazon.com/...B001EO6W8K
http://www.amazon.com/...B000ZMCILW
http://www.amazon.com/...B000LWJ1ES

I'm thinking of purchasing one but can't really find one that stands out completely. The 18-105 seems to be one that has come up more because it's longer range of focal length (am i using the term focal length right? Ha) Anyways, what lens would you purchase and why?

Added (1). Okay, well if you had $300 to spend on any portrait lens for a D90 what would give me the most out of my money? I already have a 35 mm DX 1.8 too.

Added (2). Is the difference between the 35 and 50 that great? I know everyone calls it the "nifty fifties" but would I see that big a of change in images between the two lenses?

3rd party battery grips?

I own a nikon D90 and was thinking of getting a battery grip. But I wasn't sure if I should get 3rd party ones. I don't want to spend so much money on a genuine one but yet again, how bad are the 3rd party ones? My dad says don't get 3rd party ones because it will send an uneven amount of volts to the camera and it will fluctuate.eventually the camera will stop working.
so should I get a 3rd party one like this?

Would the Nkon D3100 be good for a beginner?

Hi, I'm looking into buying my first DSLR. I have an older Nikon SLR with 3 different lens. I know they are interchangeable and that's why I'm looking into the Nikon. I took a photography class way back in 2004 and it was only for film SLR and darkroom. I plan on taking a DSLR class in the summer at our local community college. I know there's the D5100 and it's significantly better but I hate to throw that kind of money at a camera right now. Would you say the D3100 will be ok for me as a beginner? I have read reviews and I've seen some bad and some good.

Some of the least expensive entry-level DSLR cameras?

So, I'm looking into going into photography, but I want to go a bit further than just using my Digital Compact, and it's my birthday in 2 months, it may sound ages away, but I want to know which camera I'm going to ask for, I reckon my price range is probably up to about £350-£450… I know that limits me but I was thinking of maybe the Nikon D3100 or Canon EOS 1100D?

Help nikon D3100 18-55mm lens?

Hi, so about six months ago my nikon lens broke. I just bought a new one and it doesn't work. I'm not sure if its my camera or the lens itself. When I take a picture, only a little bit of the picture comes out and the rest is black. When I look through the hole it looks foggy, like there's black stuff on the screen. Now it won't even let me take pictures. It says "Please press shutter release button again" I really need help, my parents bought it for me christmas of 2010 and its been broken since last august.

Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens alternative?

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens.
I don't have the money for the name brand.
I have seen the Tamron 70-200 and the sigma 70-200.
My pricerange is $0-$600, are there any other lenses that i can get new or used that provide the 70-200mm range and the fast aperture?

Added (1). Yes, I have a D7000 so the non AF-s thing is fine.
But does the Tamron 70-200 have a built in motor or is it a screw drive?
