Throw some tips for learning to use dslr for filming?
I recently got a Nikon D3200 and was wondering if anyone knows some good resources to learn about how to use it, or if you think even just going outside and filming different things is a good way to learn too?
Surely some techniques or ideas might help though and give ideas what to try out with the camers.
Thanks
Added (1). Thanks for the answers. I guess I meant shooting, if not filming.

I'm looking to buy an 18-200mm lens for my Nikon D3100. I've found one from "Sigma" which is an "Optical Stabilizer Lens for Nikon." What does "Optical Stabilizer" mean, and is this a good brand? Will my pictures be good quality?

Is the Nikon D3200 body compatible with the Tamron AF 18-200mm F3.5-F6.3 Di-II lens?
I'm desiring to purchase the Nikon D3200 for photo and video use. I'm seeking to find an 18-200mm lens for the camera, but I'm not sure that the Tamron AF 18-200 mm F3.5 - F6.3 Di-II will be compatible. I have searched the specs and researched prices, however, the price and feature combination of the two seems too good to be true. Can you tell me if these two work together (if AF and all camera functionality will remain the same)? If not, please offer suggestions.

What lens do I need for the Nikon D3100?
My girlfriend has a Nikon D3100. She is absolutely in love with it and I don't know enough about what is good. She has a couple of lenses and she doesn't like to change them out all the time. Which would be a good lens to do everything that she would need. I'm deployed and am trying to make it a nice surprise for her.

Cheap Lighting for Nikon D80 Photographer?
I'd love to own a nice new flashgun that's hundreds and hundreds of pounds, but truth is I never will. Therefore I'm looking for budget flash guns with good reviews or possibly some ideas for cheap studio equipment.
I'm mainly a portrait/fashion photographer.
Any help please?

I purchased a Nikon D5100 after upgrading from a Nikon D3000. As a film student the D5100 is one hard thing to work with due to its lack of manual control. Although Cannons are better for video moving to Cannon would not have been a manageable move due to money issues. College Student here. Now I love the Nikon D5100 it does a solid job for most things. I'm looking for any tips, firmware hacks, or anything that would help make my life easier when shooting with my D5100.

Decision between Canon EOS 7D and Nikon D7000?
Since this is going to be my first dslr, i'm really confused between two. First of all, money is not an issue. But i don't want to go full frame yet. What i'm going to shoot is mostly portrait, some wild life and images(and maybe videos) for stock. Nikon is much cheaper with the kit lens. And 7D doesn't include a kit lens but i can even buy 28-105mm L series, for everyday shooting next to a 50mm.
Nikon d7000 is newer technology, 7d a bit older. Anyways, all tips are welcomed.
