Is the Nikon D3200 body compatible with the Tamron AF 18-200mm F3.5-F6.3 Di-II lens?

I'm desiring to purchase the Nikon D3200 for photo and video use. I'm seeking to find an 18-200mm lens for the camera, but I'm not sure that the Tamron AF 18-200 mm F3.5 - F6.3 Di-II will be compatible. I have searched the specs and researched prices, however, the price and feature combination of the two seems too good to be true. Can you tell me if these two work together (if AF and all camera functionality will remain the same)? If not, please offer suggestions.

If it has a motor and is in Nikon mount, yes.

It's a brute of a lens, though, and performance could be better - I'd suggest buying body with 18-55mm now and obtaining the AF-S 55-200mm at a later date.

As Andrew has already said, if you get the right version for your Nikon D3200 then yes it will work.

The whole issue of 18-200mm lenses is a bit of a hot issue though. If you are going for a super-zoom lens then you may as well go the whole hog and get the 18-270mm, or as Andrew has suggested get two lenses.

That lens will be great for illustrating the meaning of the expression "empty magnification". Superzooms tend to have compromises in image quality, and the D3200's glorious 24 MP will make them obvious.

If the lens is made for your camera as "Andrew" (contributor) suggests, It will work. But I warn you the Tamron 18-200mm is a heavy lens for any length of time around your neck. Make sure you get a WIDE and PADDED neck strap! Or do I as did. I had a 18-to-55mm on the camera and purchased a 50-200mm which as it turns out is only about 1/4" longer and no heavier than the normal lens. I sold my Tamron 28-200mm lens if for no other reason than the weight.

Just make sure you get the one with a Nikon mount.
