What kind of digital camera to buy?
I'm looking at getting a new camera. Right now I own a Cannon point & shoot camera (Power Shot A480).It has 13 time zoom with a bunch of little extras like scene selections, video recorder, timed flash, B&W photos, etc. However, I have always envied the SLR and now that I live in China, I get a Nikon for as little as $250 USD at a reputable store (not a market). They also have Sony, Fuji, and Minolta. I don't want something that I will have to get a PHD to be able to operate, but one that gives me better quality and better zoom options and better all around picture quality with maybe a few extras. I'm not the world's greatest photographer, but I enjoy taking pictures immensely and would love to be able to go up in rank as far as photography goes. I want to be able to take pictures that look like someone that knows what they are doing has taken them as opposed to just an amateur that takes household pictures of their pets. Can anyone help me decide what is the best camera to get for an amateur striving to be an advanced photographer?
Added (1). I already have the Cannon Powershot A480, and while it is a good camera, it is not up to my liking as far as amateur photos. The 2 I have immediate capabilities to buy are:
FujiFilm S1770 Finepix with 15X optical zoom. It runs about $235 USD.
Olypmus DC SP60 with 15X optical zoom. It runs about $260 USD.
I really liked the Olympus because it has a built in tutor on the menu options and allows you to be able to go through each option as it teaches you to use each one.
GREEN SPOTS WHEN I TAKE PICTURES?
Hi, I have a NIKON D 5000 and when I use a Tokina AT-X PRO 116 ASPHERICAL I noticed in some pictures I get a green spot that looks fogy. I started noticing this a week ago but before the pictures came out awsome. Any idea why I'm getting a green spot in some pictures and not others? Could it be my lens or some settings.
Decent Cheap DSLR for starting photographer?
Okay, i've always been interested in photography.
and have had numerous point and shoot cameras throughout the past few years.
my last camera is okay, a Kodak easy share M380. But i think its time to upgrade.
The main reason for finally upgrading is i've decided to take a digital fine art photography class at uni, and i don't want the hassle of borrowing the camera.
so, i need something that is on the reasonably cheap side, as i'm a student.
I've heard cannon and nikon are the best?
any information and suggestions would be appreciated!
I'm thinking about buying a dslr nikon. This will be my first SLR camera. And i do not know much about cameras. I would probably only use one lens. Because this camera would be used for taking pictures of friends and maybe some shots for just photography. I'm 15 so i don't want to have to carry around a real big camera but i do want an dslr nikon. What do you think would be best for me to buy? And there isn't really a price limit except for under 1000
I just bought a nikon 3100 and received it in the mail today, however i've come to notice there's a small spot in the bottom center of the 55- 200 nikon lens that came with it. It doesn't show up when you look through the viewfinder with the camera off ( the battery isn't charged yet but of course you can still see through) so i'm wondering is it supposed to be there or should i get a replacement.
What does body only lens mean?
I'm looking at Nikon cameras online and there are options to buy a camera "body only" or with "two lens VR outfit". If I were to buy the body only option, would there be no lens at all?
Does anyone have a foreign feeling when changing from, say, a Nikon FTN SLR to digital?
I actually feel as if I'm taking pics with a foreign object. I did take photography at university level, and haven't even read the manual with the new really tiny Nikon.
I was actually thinking of getting a new Nikon that would fit all the filters and lenses of the FTN.
Ok, I know, I should stop being lazy and learn the new technology. Nonetheless, I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem when changing cameras?
Film problems with my Nikon n70
Someone gave me a Nikon n70. They didn't really use it anymore… So I was willing to try it out. (I normally shoot digital and the camera has no manual)
Once I get the film loaded into the camera… And all the way used up, I can't get my camera to re-load the film to where I can take it out of the camera and change it to a new roll.
Best Digital Camera For the Best Value?
I want to get my girlfriend a new digital camera for Christmas. She isn't a professional photographer, but she does LOVE taking pictures and is in need of a new camera since hers is on its last leg. I know Nikon and Canon appear to be the top brands, but what would be the best/most affordable camera for someone in her situation?
