Which point shoot camera?

I want a point and shoot camera with great image quality, something about 16 mega pixels, and really good video that would be compatible with mac and pc computers. Good battery life and fast shutter speed is also necessary.
I have been looking at Nikon and Canon. I've had the sony cyber shots before and am not happy with the quality.
Any recommendations?

What are some really good cameras for videos AND pictures?

I'm looking to start a career online and I need a really, really good video camera that takes amazing-quality videos and crisp, clear pictures. I know certain makes come with remotes that you can control the zoom, play, and stop features from and one of those would be awesome but it's not really a necessity. See the following videos for a quality reference:

I want something with really good audio quality as well. I'm willing to pay up to about $600, but seeing as I have a lot of particular requests as to what I need, I will pay more for a camera with all the fabulous qualities I'm looking for. Preferably Canon or Nikon, but it's not a definite necessity.

Please help, anyone who knows of a really good brand and make. I'm desperately looking for the perfect camera to start my blog and youtube channel and I want all of my photos and videos to have beautiful, professional quality.

(One more request--make sure it's not too big for me to take it in public! I'll be traveling with it a lot once I get more money.)

Is Nikon good brand & better quality then both Sony & Olympus?

Hi is Nikon good brand & better quality then both Sony & Olympus?

Added (1). P.S. Sorry if I didn't add more details. I bought a new version of Nikon that has 12.1 Mega Pix, wide 18x zoom, full HD, HDMI port, CMOS backside illumination, quick response, & is 3.1 LCD for $300 plus tax. It was originally $400 but with my rebate, it was $300. I save $100. This is "first time" of buying a camera & the camera seller told me that Nikon is good brand compare to Sony & Olympus. Is that true?

Cheap High Resolution camera?

I don't have a lot of money really just 300- 400 dollars (Usually more like 200 - 300). I need a pretty high resolution camera. I don't need a 1500 dollar Nikon or anything and I don't need those features like a blur on the background as I'm a Graphic Designer so I can make those effects. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions of cameras in my price range. I'm trying to get into photography. I'm not sure if I'll stay with it so I don't want to buy an expensive camera. I'll post an additional details thing if you have any questions. Thanks!

Added (1). I understand it's not a feature that you can turn on and off it's an effect, I get that lol. The camera would be used pretty much for personal uses pictures of family, friends, parties. But it may also be used if I get into the hobby. I live in New York City so pictures of signs, people, places. Basically nothing set in stone, I want it to be able to do what ever I need.

Nikon SB-600 hot-shoe locking device?

Ok, so I have a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight and on very dim light my Auto Assist Light beam does not light upat times. It's a hit and miss sometimes. My question is to anyone who has the same sppeedlight or any nikon speedlight is, when you turn from unlock to lock, does the two pins in the button stick out to stay form when you mount it to your camera.

I talking about the 2 side rectangle pins on edges, not the contact pins. I know the very front pin does come down to hold from sliding out of the camera shoe but I don't remember if the 2 side rectangle pins also came down.

Here is a pic to better illustrate what I mean

Digital Camera for Christmas

For Christmas I want a digital camera, an SLR one. I'm only an amateur but I feel that I'm beyond compact cameras now. I'd really like a Canon or a Nikon, for under £500. What are the cheapest SLR cameras on the market? Best makes, etc
