Nikon J1, most useful lenses/accessories?
I have 2 cameras, my Canon 20D and a cheap point and shoot that broke recently. I love my 20D, even though it's probably really outdated now. It's also a pain to lug around to every situation I would want to take pictures, and I haven't ever been able to afford the 2 lenses I Really want for it (both over $1000). The point and shoot was more convenient, but the photo quality was really bad in any indoors/low light situation. I found a great deal on a refurbished Nikon J1 with the 10-30mm lens. I have been looking at them for a while, since it seems like a reasonable compromise between my good camera and another junker point and shoot camera.
Once I get it, I want to go through and learn all the features like I did when I got my Canon. After I have a good handle on it, I'm pretty sure I want to order the 30-100mm lens and a filter set (I have a bunch of cokin special effect filters for my Canon, and have a lot of fun with them). I'm not sure what other lenses or accessories would actually be useful vs.becoming dust collectors? Any suggestions or comments on what's worked for you? Also does anyone actually know what style mount the J1 has? Is it unique to the J-series?
I'm a high school senior heading off to college next year to potentially study photojournalism. I'm looking to ask for a DSLR and lens for graduation. I have a lot of experience shooting with a 1968 Nikon SLR on film but I haven't yet branched into the digital world. I was hoping I could get some suggestions on what to look for in a camera or specific cameras I should look into and the same with lenses. I don't want to completely break the bank here so moderate prices would be appreciated.

Do sigma lenses work on all nikon dx/fx cameras?
Do all sigma lens work on nikon dx/fx cameras?
How do we know if a sigma lens has Auto-focus sing motor and Vibration reduction?
How to stop my nikon taking pictures automatically
So my Nikon recently decided to take pictures when it does that facial recognition thing. Is it something that I can change by just going on the settings or must I take it to be repaired?
Vortex Diamondback or Nikon Prostaff Rifle scopes?
Looking for a new scope for a 308 rifle. I've narrowed my search down to 4-12x40 scope, and looking at the Nikon Prostaff and the Vortex Diamondback.
My goal was to find a reliable scope with crystal clear glass and BDC 'recticle' for under $250. I've handled a few of the Nikon's at the Hunting shops and am pleased with the feel of it. Both brands have really good reviews. I'm not too familiar with Nikon's warranty? I have a Vortex Sparc on a tactical sporter, and feel very comfortable with their lifetime warranty.
Will be used primarily for game up to 300-400lbs, and on ranges stretching up to 450-500 yards. I live in Wisconsin, so hunting up north can range from open farm land to a tree stand 20 feet up in relatively dense wooded area. Not that this effects the scope as much as the rifle but something I'm considering… Weather, humidity, shock absorption… Etc… Any thoughts/opinions on these two particular scopes?
Added (1). I started looking at the SWFA SS 10x42. Gonna keep reading up on it, but, quick question… What the difference between the MRAD and MOE dials? For hunting/target shooting? I'm assuming the MRAD maybe more then what I need.
Which camera to rent for a video shoot occurring at night outdoors with very low light?
I will be filming skydivers doing a jump at night [so, speeds between 20-40 mph when they're going past me and I track them] wearing suits with lights on them. I would like to rent a DSLR that shoots video so that I don't have to carry a video camera and a DSLR to shoot both during the day and night, are there any Nikons that can shoot video in the dark? I'm renting from these guys, as they are local.http://kspphoto.com/rental-department.html
If you could tell me off their list which to rent, and if there's no good Nikon DSLR to shoot night video on recommend a video camera to shoot with.
Expensive camera and cheap lens?
I want to buy a dslr so I've been looking at many different models, and so far i like the Canon 7D and the Nikon D7100 (Bodys only). The thing is, this is my first dslr camera, so i don't have any lenses yet and buying a camera that costs this much would blow my budget. But the good thing is, i found $10 lenses on ebay that seem good enough for me.
How good of picture would i still be able to take? Is it worth it?
