Does the Nikon D3000 shoot RAW images?

My mom is buying me a camera (for Christmas) for my digital photography class and it needs to be able to shoot RAW images. My heart is set on a Nikon camera, and I have heard rave reviews about the D3000. Three of my friends have them and say they're amazing, but none of them know if it shoots RAW or not. I know the D7000 does, but that is a last resort since it's pretty expensive.

What should i ask for for Christmas?

Okay so i know i'm getting the nikon d3000 and 4 tickets to see justin bieber for Christmas but my mom wants to know what else to buy me and i have no idea! (i'm a 14 year old girl)
i already have a plasma tv in my room, a macbook, and since we have 6 in our family we already have the wii, xbox, nintendo, etc. I also already have an iphone and every ipod thinkable.
also, i have every instrument already. I don't usually wear makeup, and my mom won't get me clothes for christmas, because thats a "boring" gift!
please give me some good ideas! (and i already have justin bieber shirts and posters so don't list that.)

I'm getting nikon d3100 with kit lens, and the 50mm f/1.8… & I'm wondering, how hard is it to learn how to manually focus on the 50mm? I'm going to just learn myself, but just wondering what i should look forward too, since I'm a beginner

Is the Nikon D60 better than the Canon D60?

I have been shooting with my Nikon for about 2-3 years now and gotten pretty good use out of it. My grandpa recently bought a ton of used equipment off of an old retired friend who is going blind [he was a photographer his entire life] and there was a Canon D60 in one of the boxes he gave us.

Is the Canon better than my Nikon? I haven't used it yet, I'll test some lenses and do some comparison shots [I'm aware the lens is more important than the body but still] but if not then I may just sell it. What would be an appropriate price to sell the body for? Somewhere around $150?

Does the nikon d80 have a display screen?

I was wondering if it had a display screen to show you settings like the d5000 or d90, like how you can press the info button?

Added (1). Oh, and how do you turn it on?

Nikon D90 exposure problem?

My Nikon D90 doesn't expose correctly when using my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX DG. At the wide end it overexposes by a little over a stop, at about 35mm it correctly exposes, and at the long end it underexposes by about at stop. This only happens with this lens. I have tried 5 other Nikon lenses which all respond as expected.

The problem gets worse when using matrix metering. I currently use center weighted metering all the time now b/c of this lens. I know that it has nothing to do w/ my exposure settings (ISO, aperture, shutter). Instead, when using this lens, the meter seems to consistently give incorrect readings and exposures. I don't even think it has anything to do w/ aperture blades sticking as this would still at least give me correct metering. If I fill the frame w/ an off-white wall at 24mm and zoom into 70mm the meter changes over 2 stops when is should remain the same, as I'm still filing the frame w/ the same color and the same amount of light. The focal length should not affect the exposure.

I have sent the lens to Sigma and they sent it back with a note saying they made an "aperture control arm adjustment" or something like that.

Update: i just tried this lens on my D3000 (which doesn't autofocus w/ this lens) and it meters correctly. So to summarize, it doesn't meter correctly on my D90 where every other lens I have does, but it meters correctly on my D3000. Sigma seems to think the lens is fine. So is the problem my D90 or the Sigma lens, or that they are both fine but just not compatible with each other? Is there any way I can get this lens to work correctly on my D90?

Any ideas/suggestions?
