Does the Nikon D3000 shoot RAW images?
My mom is buying me a camera (for Christmas) for my digital photography class and it needs to be able to shoot RAW images. My heart is set on a Nikon camera, and I have heard rave reviews about the D3000. Three of my friends have them and say they're amazing, but none of them know if it shoots RAW or not. I know the D7000 does, but that is a last resort since it's pretty expensive.
Yes, it shoots RAW.
The D3000 is pretty outdated though, there are better deals for the money out there. Consider the D3100, which is a much better camera, or, if you can afford to spend a bit more and don't care about video, the D90.
Also give the Canon T2i/550D a try at a camera store, as well as the Pentax Kx. All of these are fine cameras which i'd prefer over a D3000 any day.
