I woult suggest Ebay at all! I would try amazon.com, walmart, target, best buy, even sometimes Kmart. I'm looking for a good camera too!

The D40 was replaced by the D40x, itself replaced by the D60, which was in turn replaced by the D3000, but even that has now been replaced by the D3100.So if you really want a D40, the online auction site is likely to be your best bet, although the linked site has a couple ofr used D60 for less than £250.

Do not follow the link from another answerer to Amazon and pay £1000 for a D40!
