How to use a pc as a camera storage device?

I want to make a time lapse video, I'm going to shot in RAW. I don't have a memory card big enough to hold all the files, is there a way to use your pc as storage without having to intervene, as I don't want to interrupt the camera. (so I'm basically using the pc as the SD card) I'm using a Nikon d5000.

18-105mm or 16-85mm with nikon d7000?

I'm really undecided whether I want to purchase 16-85mm or 18-105mm.

Later on I'll be purchasing possibly a prime lens too (Nikon D7000). I'm just not sure whether the extra $350 is worth it. This is my first camera, but I'd rather spend it on a better lens at the beginning. This is my problem though, I see reviews that the 16-85mm isn't a major difference and that many can survive with the 18-105mm. Then some say the 16-85 is so much much better compared to the 18-105mm distortion and soft images. I'm just extremely uncertain.

What do you guys think? Overall though, is the $350 worth the extra?

What would be the best portrait lens for my Nikon D3100?

My choices are 85mm f/3.5G ED VR or 50 mm f/ 1.4 or Nikon 85mm f/1.4D AF Nikkor Lens?
What is ED stands for and what is the difference between f/3.5G ED and f/1.4D on the 85 mm?
I'm about to make a purchase and don't know which one is best if I'm going for great portrait and outdoor natures. I like the effects of the blurred background very much and I know all three of these lenses will do the trick right?
