Are tamron lenses good for my nikon?

I have a 4-months old Nikon D3100 and planning to have a new lens (it comes w/ a 18-55mm)

i wanted to have a lens by nikon (either 55-200mm, 55-300mm, 18-200mm) but my budget isn't suited for these ones (especially the 3rd lens)
so i'm thinking of buying a tamron lens (either 55-200mm, 18-250mm, 18-270mm)
well will it be a great decision choosing tamron over nikon?
how about quality and performance issues? Any advice?

thanks for the answers.

PS:
i'm an amateur one, not (yet) a professional

What settings do you use to photograph hockey players in action?

I have a Nikon D70 digital DSL camera and can't get good stop-action pictures due to the poor lighting and added glare from the white ice. My lense is a 70mm to 300mm with an fstop of 4.0.

My Nikon D3000 flash stopped working?

I've had it since December and I just noticed that the flash hasn't popped up for a while. I'll put it on Auto and it says that the flash is enabled, but it doesn't pop up.

Added (1). I tried to do that, to manually manage the flash but it doesn't pop up no matter what I do.

How to change shutter speed on Nikon D90?

I was borrowing a friend's D90 (I usually use Canon) and I had two issues with it:
1. How do you change shutter speed while on Manual mode? The front dial only changes the f-stop and not the shutter speed.
2. The camera takes a significant amount of time to focus after I click the shutter button. Is there some sort of continuous mode (like on Canon) that the D90 can be switched to?

Does the nikon d90 sport a good viewfinder?

Hi there… I'm using the nikon d5000 for my photography at the moment, and its absolutley brilliant.apart from one thing, the viewfinder! Now call me fussy but I find it extremely dark, cramped and sore to have my eye pressed there for more than a few seconds.

i have an olympus om1n and the viewfinder on that is just fantastic, big and bright like it should be. However that is a 35mm film slr and as such I don't use it as much (due to processing times)

anyhow… I was thinking about making a small jump up to the d90, mainly for the pentaprism viewfinder. People who own the camera, is the viewfinder nicely big and bright? I understand its also to do with the lens' widest aperture but I think the d5000s would still be cramped as hell even if i had a faster lens on it.

Added (1). Thanks everyone. Joby stop going on about why the camera is good I already know it is good. I want to know about viewfinders
