Steps on how to shoot meteors with a nikon D40?
I'm a "beginner" when it comes to photography, and I have two cameras(D40 and D3000), but mostly use my D40. What steps (semi-detailed) would I do to take good meteor photographs at night? (12am-4am)

What are hot pixels in a DSLR camera?
Why do hot pixels occur in an image? Is hot pixel problem a hardware related or image related? How it develops in a camera if it is hardware related? Is it too serious problem to not purchase a DSLR or a DSLR with such problem like Nikon D7000? Is there any way to fix it? How to test if a certain camera is having this problem before buying? Please explain. Also please post a picture highlighting hot pixel in an image if possible.
Which camera is best for a beginner?
I want to step into the world of DSLR photography and learn photography. I'm a complete novice and have only had a Sony point and shoot camera. While I want to learn every aspect of DSLR photography but since I'm a beginner I don't want to spend too much. I have shortlisted Nikon D5100, Nikon D90 and Canon 600D. Although I prefer the image quality of Nikon entry level DSLR I'm still ready to go for Canon but in the future if my progress is good I would like to purchase Nikon full frame camera. Actually I'm leaning towards D5100 but I'm not sure if this camera has everything. I do not want to choose a camera that could hinder my learning graph. I wanted to go for Nikon D7000, but after hearing a lot of focus related problem I don't want to invest double the amount of the camera I've shortlisted on a camera with so many problems. Is D5100 capable of auto bracketing for HDR photography?

So what happened was the camera bag was open and I went to pick it up without realizing. So the big Nikon D90 falls out and the glass lens filter breaks into pieces. I'm pretty sure that the lens isn't damaged at all, but I'm wondering if Nikon will be able to fix my camera and how much that would cost? Also, if you have an approximate time of how long it would take to fix it, that would be great to know!

I'm buying my first SLR camera and I'm torn between the nikon d5100 and the canon 550d
The main difference for me is that the nikon doesn't have built in autofocus. Hence the lenses I buy are limited to the AF-S and AF-I if i want to use autofocus which are supposed to be more expensive than their canon counterparts.

Can't decide. I have no investment in either system, never owned a DSLR but I use my sister's Canon on a regular basis (it's a Rebel and I don't like the feel of it). Price is very important, I'm a student. Also suggest some good glass?
