Nikon D80 Help. How to get the flash to work with manual lens
I just recently bought a Rokinon 8mm Fisheye lens for my Nikon D80.
I love the lens, it works perfectly during the day time, when I require no strobes, but when I attach my External flash, the shutter won't release, and the flash won't fire. On the top LCD screen i get the flash symbol blinking.
I have tried everything, changing my settings on my camera to allow manual flash, commander flash, and then standard flash, yet nothing works.
Any ideas, or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Firstly, you are very rude. Secondly, I have you know that I have been taking photos with several DSLR's and SLR's for over 5 years now, covering weddings, events and modeling shoots. And finally, the reason I need an external flash to fire is because it is shooting into a diffuser, which will evenly spread the light.
So, get off your high horse, stop thinking you are the 'bees knees' in photography (cause quite frankly, you fail the first thing a photographer learns, and that is to be tolerant, patient and nice) and get a life.

Poor college student looking to get a flash for my camera. Are there any off-brand flashes that would be comparable to say a nikon sb-400? I don't know much about flashes so I figured I'd see if someone knows of a specific one.
I have a Nikon D40.

Which lens should i use to shoot a half marathon? Read description please?
I'm using a NIKON d3100;I have the 18-55 kit lens and the 35 1.8g lens. Should I bring both or just use one or the other?

Metz 48 af-1: Not sure how to use?
I got a Metz 48 af-1 flash a while ago for my nikon d3000. And I'm not 100% sure on how to operate it. It did come with a user manual… But it's All in german or something, which i obviously can't read.
I have been using it, but i'm still completely clueless at times.
I have observed that the flash only goes off when the flash button lights up green
Lately the button hasn't been turning green very often… Ruins a lot of good shots because no flash will go off
I'm mainly wondering if there's any special way or thing I'd need to do to make the flash go off
like is there a special setting, or i don't know.anything.
I also don't know what the TTL flash mode really does. What's the difference between TTL and M (manual?)

How to do light painting using Nikon d3100?
I just bought my first SLR. I'm trying to learn photography and trying to learn the light painting technique. I have been to Google and went to YouTube for some answers but still I remain unsatisfied and failed to do my light painting. Please can anyone help me?

Pocket Wizard - What do i need for a Nikon D7000 and a Vivitar 285?
I'm new to this whole Strobist thing. I'm on a limited budget, so I want to know exactly what I need to synchronize my Vivitar to the shutter on my camera, or even synchronize both flashes together. Also, I've done a lot of research and there's much debate on what is the best cheap alternative to Pocket Wizard. Opinions? Any help is very appreciated. Thanks!
Added (1). If I were to buy a Nikon SB 700, how would that setup work? I've read that you have to fire off the built in flash on your camera for it to respond when you release the shutter, which is not what I want. Also, if I were to get a wireless shutter release remote, would it also set off the external flash? Thanks for the answers and patience, I'm, as you can probably tell, an amateur.

Remote not working for Nikon D70. Any ideas?
I've got a standard ML-L3 remote for my D70, which I have used for years without issue. It stopped working, so I replaced the battery. No dice. Just received a new remote and it doesn't work, either.
I'm probably stuck with taking it to a shop, but are there any thoughts as to why the camera is no longer responding?
Yes, I've ensured the camera was set for the remote.

DSLR buying help on a budget? Camcorder a better option?
I have a budget of £200-300 and am looking for a decent DSLR. I have narrowed my searches down to the Canon 550d or the Nikon d3100 but they are too expensive (unless you can find one in my price range!) The main reason I want it for is for full HD movie that can include movie aperture (depth of field when shooting), manual focus, a decent in built microphone and external mic port. If there I'm wrong and there's a camcorder that can do this then still brilliant! I love photography so that is why I'm edging towards a DSLR because I can use it in that aspect, although I already own a Fujifiilm Finepix S2800hd
Thanks!
