Need advice/criticism on photographs- how do I improve?

I just got a Nikon d7000. Since before now I have used point and clicks, its a whole new world of photography for me. I would appreciate people commenting on/critiquing a few pics so I can hopefully improve.

Need advice criticism on photographs- how do I improve

Added (1). Thanks JH

Part of the over sharpening is the fact that it is HDR- five shots with exposures at -2, -0.7, 0, 0, 7 and 2 EV. Individual shots were sharp- but since the wind was blowing there was movement in between exposures resulting in the edge blur on those flowers in the foreground which, since they were more stuck out, moved more than the rest

Added (2). Thanks AK, good advice and I'll take a look at the link. I also have some portraits of my kids- both with this macro lens and a 50mm f1.4 lens- but I prefer to not post those in an open forum for obvious reasons

Are there adapters for Nikon 1 cameras and DX lenses? - 1

Hi, I'm a Nikon D5000 user, and I've recently been drooling over the new Nikon 1 cameras. I haven't been able to find anything myself, so I thought I'd ask some fellow photography lovers if they know of an adapter to use DX lenses on a Nikon 1 camera and vice versa.
Also, is the Nikon 1 considered a 4/3 camera? Can you use other 4/3 lenses on it?

Manual setting turns my pictures black?

I have a D70S and I just bought a micro nikkor 55 mm. It's a manual focus lens so to shoot with that lens I have to put my camera in the manual setting and I have to turn the switch to manual also. No problem… Until I try to take a picture in manual. I can see through the lens fine, no error messages flash anywhere, it's just that when I go back and review the pictures I had taken, they're all black. ISO 400, apperature 1/60. I tried to reset all the settings on my menu but that didn't do anything. I'm kind of new to the world of photography but this lens is awesome for me and I need to figure out what's going down and how to fix it. Any advice would be appreciated. Oh, and just so there aren't any questions on if my camera works with other lenses, yes, it does. I have another nikkor and it works fine on every auto setting but when I go to P, S, or m it all turns back.

Does nikon d80 have motor drive?

I got a nikon d80 and I realised it doesn't have the same thing as a canon where you hold the button and it drives the lens into the correct focus, I don't mind using it this way where I have to spin the lens but my friends find it annoying and slow to use so was wondering if there was a motor drive option?

How to take a photo like this?

image

What steps were used to take a photo like this? Was lighting used, photoshop, or what? I really want to take awesome shots like this of other people. I'm very good at taking pictures so i was told and i can definitely take shots at that angle but i know it would look like that as a result so i was thinking that maybe the extra light was added by some program?

Any info would be great! Thanks!

i use a nikon d3100 lens 18-55mm btw in case that matters.

What am I getting myself into Nikon D3100?

So I fell in love with the arts of photography about, two years ago. I have a Kodak EasyShare C182 and it's not letting me 'expand' on what I would like it do.
So i plan on upgrading for Christmas (since i'm only asking for money, and still have some from my birthday, and I still have way more than enough saved away in my bank.) I'm also only 14. But either way, I want a good camera that I can rely on. Then again, i don't know much about these cameras.

Nikon D3100 would this be a good camera to start out with?
