Canon EOS Rebel T3 or Nikon?

I want to get a dslr for Christmas. I've never owned one and i want to take clear, crisp, professional looking pictures. I have a tight budget so is the Canon Rebel T3 a good entry level? Or is it bad and the quality isn't so good because of the cheaper price? What about the Nikon D3000 with 10.2 MP? Is it better than the Canon Rebel T3?

Any suggestions and tips would be great!

Give me a few tips on what to do about my Nikon D3100?

I know this is a long shot but could someone help me Please. I brought my camera in May 2011 and have been doing good but we noticed early on my flash doesn't work and it has been that way since the day we brought it. It was finally sent back to Nikon (after our big events for the year were done) to be fixed last month and I just got it back yesterday and it was not fixed so after talking to a rep at Nikon yesterday he gave me a few tips to get it working just to get me through Christmas and New Years… Well I'm lost cause it not doing anything now… Please Help… I wasn't ready to venture into A and S modes yet but I know I will have to… Thanks

Added (1). I Just called Nikon again for more trouble shooting and still nothing after playing and resetting the camera to A, S AND P modes

Added (2). I will send it back to Nikon because it is still under warranty, but I will need to wait until after Christmas because I need to take pictures of my children for christmas and it will not get back to me before Christmas.

Added (2). Well to answer the question below, not everyone at Nikon is a photographer and I was hoping a person who is a photographer could give me a few small tips.

Nikon D3100 Camera Lense?

I want to upgrade my lense to something better. I currently have 18-55 VR (standard model), can someone recommend me a good lense to zoom in further, but yet good pixel resolution. I do have a budget for myself (300 or cheaper).

My Nikon d5100 is producing a lot of noise in my pictures. How can I fix it?

This just happened in the past week and I used to be able to blow up a picture to a 16x20 with no problem, but now it's hard to even get an 8x10 to look good. I don't understand what happened. Can someone shed some light on this problem for me? It also seems to be happening with more than one lense. Thanks!

Added (1). Edited to say - thank you for the ISO suggestion… What about the high ISO NR? I believe when I was shadowing a fellow photographer he had me change it to low from normal. Could this be the problem? I will try this tomorrow I think.
