Anyone else embarrassed to take pictures/tips?

I know, this might sound just too silly, but I'm kind of really scared to take pictures in public.
Outside in town or some nice scenery I get embarrassed when someone sees me, but it's even worse with taking pictures of people.
Tomorrow, there's my little nieces birthday and the last day of school this year, I'd LOVE to bring my camera to both events (going to my sisters right after school), but I know I probably wouldn't bring myself to take a picture.
At school we're having some christmas party, I probably wouldn't get myself to ask people if I could take pictures of them, well in class, maybe, if they would ask me, but at my sisters, no chance.
I have a Nikon D90, so it's also so loud (I know it's not, but you notice it).

Any good advice?

Which Tamron/Nikon lenses will fit my Nikon D3100?

I'm looking to possibly get another lens for my Nikon D3100, so far I have the kit lens (18-55mm) and the 55-200mm lens. I know that my D3100 doesn't have the lens auto-focus motor in the camera body, so the lens will lose the auto-focus if it is not an AF-S.

I'm looking at purchasing a Tamron 18-200mm lens.
http://www.tamron.com/...e/a14.html
http://www.amazon.com/...0007WK8MQ/

Or maybe this type, from Nikon
http://www.amazon.com/...005NFW9PG/

The tamron would be my first choice, although slight more money, I like the zoom versatility.

I'm just wondering how to figure out how to tell which non-nikon lenses have the motor in them, so I will not lose auto-focus.

Just a side note, which is the cheapest nikon dslr with a motor in the body?

Another side note, I'm a beginning hobbyist photographer, basically what camera gear is essential for general photography? I'm leaning towards close up and macro photography right now, however, I want to experiment with it all until I find a favorite. (landscape, portrait, nature, macro… ) Right now I have the 2 aforementioned lenses, a tripod, and a camera bag. I don't want to shell out tons of money yet.

Finally, are there any really good photography books that you could recommend? I like looking through them to get ideas.

What is the difference between the Nikon d40 and d3000? How about the lens'?

I want to get a SLR camera, my first (I'm a beginner). I know the d3000 is newer and slightly more expensive, but they both come with 18 - 55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Are the lens' the same? And I know the d3000 camera has more MP, but I know that really doesn't matter. Are there any other significant differences? Which is better and why?

Flashguns for my Nikon D70?

I'm looking for a flashgun for my SLR Nikon D70.

I need a wireless flashgun and can be compatible with the Nikon D70

Please note that it is the D70, not the D70s.

Are there any out there at a reasonable price, or could I get a bog standard flashgun made by Jessops and get an adaptor. I know nothing about Flashguns but my photography tells me I need one. Any answers. I will give out best answer so points could be earned.

Mounting a DSLR to a telescope?

How do I do it? I have a Nikon D3100 and will hopefully soon have a half decent motorised telescope. So what do I need to be able to take pictures down it.

I have researched this a little and can't seem to get anyway with it, so far I have found out that I will need a mount of some sort (a T-Mount I think). My Nikon says F mount on the front of the chip cover thingy.

Is this all I need or do I need something that goes from the T-Mount to the telescope/camera?
Also is the T-Mount the right adaptor for my camera?

Why does the Nikon D3100 only take 10 minutes of video?

I got a Nikon D3100 and I want to know why it only takes 10 minutes on any setting. Does it overheat? Can I take more than 10 minutes of video? Or do I need another memory card?
