What DSLR camera is best for me?

Help! My parents said I could get a DSLR camera for my birthday but I don't know what cameras to look at!

I'm quite into photography, and I often take the opportunities my school gives me to take pictures, a.k.a.yearbook. I'm the one who takes pictures of the sports teams, school events, even just everyday students in the halls. I do a lot of sports/subject-in-action type photos. However, I also take a bunch of portraits of me and my friends just fooling around. So I guess I need a camera with fast FPS and shutter speeds, but also various effects so I can get creative.

I have looked at numerous Nikons, Canons, and Sonys, but I haven't found "The One". The three cameras that stick out are the Nikon d5100, the Canon T3i, and the Canon T2i. I have also look at cameras like the Nikon d70, d7, (etc.) and the Sony a55, a35, a65 (I'm not sure if these are DSLRs, and that is A MUST).

Please help me! I know I probably wrote a lot, but I really need help.

Nissin Speedlite Di466 won't fire?

I have a Nissan Speedlite Di466 flash gun. I use it on my Nikon D40. However, I'm having a problem where it's pot luck whether it will fire or not and when it does fire, the images are extremely underexposed and only 1 in 20 or so will be exposed properly when it does manage to fire. My camera is in TTL mode and the slave isn't turned on. I don't know what's the matter. I've had it for a while and as far as I remember it has always been like this. It's out of warranty though because I got it Christmas 2010.
I've also made sure that the flashgun has new batteries in it.
I usually use my camera in either Automatic or Program (mostly program though). I've read that sometimes flash guns won't work above or below a certain shutter speed but I'm not sure what that is for the flashgun I have. I've googled but to no avail.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Camera settings for a cheer competition?

I'm using a Nikon D3100 and I have a kit 18-55mm lens and another 50mm 1.8G lens.
Which lens is more suitable and what settings should I use?
Normally I set the shutter speed to 1/200 with aperture 1.8 and ISO 3200, the picture is still too dark. )

How to get crisp clear photo?

I own nikon d5100. Yesterday i went on a concert, a night concert. The metering was not constant on any mode (matrix, center and spot). So i had to make my own judgements for taking pics the problem i faced was that some parts of photo were blurr. I mostly used 1/30 or 1/20 shutter speed on lowest aperture. I just want to know that how to avoid this blurryness without using flash and getting a bright crisp picture. How to get crisp clear photo this happened when i took photo

Added (1). I took this photo with 1/30 shutter speed and iso to 6400. However if i would have chosen 1/250th than the photo would've been underexposed.

HDdslr overheating solutions?

I run a semi-professional football media network and we recently pooled some resources and bought both a Nikon D5100 and a Canon T3i in a small effort to boost a little production value into our live broadcast. Most streams last 2 hours with a 10 minute break in between.

Both cams last about 5 minutes on a tethered viewing application before switching out of live view for overheating issues.

The question is if there are any pros out there tha have delt with overheating issues, and what have you tried? We're thinking about putting them in weather-covers with ice packs to create a super-cooled environment… Anyone have experience with this? We're trying to avoid awkward switching when a camera disconnects from the software…

In a pinch we can revert to a wireless iphone 4 stream but the low resolution (400x450~) is a pain especially with no AF lock on the webcam iphone app. We're trying to avoid this…

The res on the dslr doesn't matter as it is from a USB stream and runs at around 800x600 anyways…

Added (1). Alright guys, thanks for submitting your answers, but I figured it out myself. The Nikon D5100 ran my stream stress test for 60 minutes before the battery ran out, have not yet tested the T3i. Other than the battery limitation, I had no issue producing an ~800x600 web stream, at least not as far as overheating is concerned. Here was my setup for anyone else looking to try this:

Connect Nikon D5100 to the streaming computer (in my case an Asus Eee PC). Run Nikon Camera Control 2.9. Run Manycam as custom screen capture.screen capture the output from Camera Control, local record or stream to ustream, vokle, etc.

Once every 20 minutes, stop local recording (live stream and vokle/ustream recorder still works off of camera control), and restart recording right away.

D5100 1 Battery time as of 2/27/2012: 58 minutes.

note: I'm not sure what the output is for capture programs such as camera control or controlmynikon, but it works fine for live web streaming and you can use all of your lens

How to use the Nikon D3100? - 1

I have NO idea how to manually set it. Or adjust the settling ect. Please don't tell me "Practice makes perfect" or "just play around with it" because I've asked this question 3 times before, and those are all the answers that I've got. I have a standard kit lens 18-55mm. Where and how do I go on the camera to configure settings to let me take photos like these:

P.S. Yes I know lighting plays a key too. But I'm just talking about being able to manipulate my camera. Instead of having it on auto mode.
