How to set up a Nikon d40x for photoshoot?

I need to set up my camera for an outdoor photoshoot, any tips as to how to get the best lighting and quality?

By "outdoor photoshoot" are you talking about shooting people? If so you will want to shoot with the subject in the shade to reduce harsh shadows. Remember to set the cameras white balance to shade.

If you want some added warmth to the shots, shoot in the few minutes before sunset.
