So i'm going on a school trip to New york and i have a nikon D3000 and want to bring it. We'll have backpacks so i can't use a case and some nights like when we go to broadway we won't have our backpacks just purses. (i want to get a picture of the broadway sign and other surprise photo-ops) i was also considering buying the Fujifilm FinePix

Looking for prime lens suggestions (Nikon compatible only, please)?

In the market for a new lens or three… I was after the 50mm 1.8G but saw sample photography for others such as 85mm's and even 35mm's. I was impressed. If the prices are low enough with high quality I will buy more than one kind. Since I can't find my nifty 50 ANYWHERE online or in store, I'm looking for another great portrait lens that will give me a great performance in both low lighting sessions and great light. Must also be FAST, sharp, and give great bokeh. My skills are improving so I would like to improve my accessories for my passion. I only have a D3100… Not amazing but it has made me A LOT of money so far… Kind of attached to it now. I also only bought the 18-55 and the 55-200. What is going to be a good quality addition to my photography family given all of the info I laid out?

Why won't my videos upload to Windows Movie Maker?

My camera is a Nikon D5100, and I'm trying to put videos together for my Journalism project due Friday. Movie Maker just won't accept the files.

I have short 11 videos that need to be somehow put together, so someone Please help. It's a huge grade! :'

Sports dslr? Auto-focusing in motorsport?

I've been searching for a dslr for quite a while now but only recently thought about a career in Motorsport/sports, so need to know a few things about cameras interms of sports. The cameras in question are nikon d3100, nikon d5100, canon 600d and maybe canon 60d (if i can find a cheap used one)
I actually have a few question:
how does focusing actually work in sports, and which has the best cross-type focus points?
600d has f2.8 sensitivity on its one cross-type point, what does that do?
Which is the best interms of focusing, which is fastest and most accurate?

with my budget of around £500 for the body, what do you think i should get, bare in mind that i've been working with film for almost 4 years and definitely know more than just the basics of photography. Thank you!

Added (1). Also which lenses are the best canon or nikon as a whole? Bit of a blunt question but would like to know your opinions!

Doing professional head shots, need advice please

I was asked to do a photoshoot for professional headshots of someone going in for auditions. I have no experience in this field and the parent knows this but likes my work and wants me to do them anyways. I have a Nikon D3000 and normally shoot outdoors natural light on Jpeg Fine, Large photo size. Manual. What is the BEST settings to use for this shoot on my camera to get beautiful quality shots up close that can go from wallet size to large blown up size and look amazing? I have never done this. I always do photoshoots of kids, babies, maternity, and up to 8x10 sizes.please, any advice. Thank you

Added (1). To ERICK… I NEVER said I was getting PAID for my photoshoots. I'm BUILDING my portfolio and have not charged anyone for my work… I also have been doing photos as well as been in contests, since I was a teen. So I do have years of experience and great photos. Just no experience in this actual style. Thank you all for the advice as well. I appreciate it.

Using nikon D5100 to shoot photos in stage shows?
