Where can I rent outdoor lighting for a photo shoot?

My prom is on April 21st, and I was going to do an outdoor photoshoot, either in a shaded area or in the sun, depending on the weather. I live within 30 miles of New York City. I have a Nikon D5100, tripod, Neewer digital slave flash (http://www.amazon.com/NEEWER%C2%AE-Digital-Bracket-Cameras-Without/dp/B002X3VBFK/ and 6x8" flash diffuser, but I'm not sure what other equipment I'd need and how much it would cost.

I'm interested in buying an entry-level dSLR camera?

So I'm extremely interested in photography and have been for a about a year or so. And I've wanted a digital SLR camera for a really long time. My Nikon compact camera just isn't cutting it anymore. I've been looking into cameras and researching different kinds for about 3 hours now. I was looking into maybe the Canon Rebel T2i ($649.99 w/18-55mm IS lens) or Nikon D3100 ($629.99 w/AF-S DX 18-55 VR)? I don't need a really fancy or expensive camera, just something that will take good quality pictures that I could possibly explore photography with. I'm interesting in taking mainly macro, but also landscape and low-light photos. Ideally, I'd want the Canon T3i, but it's a bit more expensive, and I'd have to ask my parents to pay off the last $200 or so dollars ($799.99 w/18-55mm IS lens). Like I said, I did some research about it, but I feel like I still couldn't make an extremely informed decision. But, your advice and/or opinion on digital SLR cameras would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you so much!

What is a sync speed for flash?

I have a Nikon D3100 and I'm looking to buy SB910, I'm doing online reading and research because I'm really interested in flash photography. I want to move a step further than the constant lights I have.
So my main question is what is sync speed and if so what's my camera's sync speed?

Nikon D90 and Vivitar lens. Adapter

I was given 2 vivitar and a canon lens from an old film camera. I would love to use them on my D90 but I have no knowledge of adapter rings. The first is a 52mm Vivitar 75 to 205mm 1:3.8-4.8 MC macro focusing zoom. The second is a vivitar 62 mm skylight (1a) 28 to 85 mm 1:3.5-4.5 macro focusing zoom. And the Canon is a FD 50mm 1: 1.8. I tried to look these up but I really wasn't understanding what I was reading so if anyone could help me I'd be very grateful!

Using a 3rd party flash with high shutter speed?

I have a Nikon SB800dx on a D7000 and I also have a YN560 which I want to use as part of a multiflash setup.

I've not done much CLS at all, so I'm not sure if I can getaway with using the YN560 with a shutter speed higher than the 1/320 sec in auto fp mode.

I will only be using it for delicate fill in light with a balanced background with shutter speeds between 1/320 and 1/750.

Will I get noticeable banding? I may need to experiment.
