With Nikon D5000, how can I make the pictures I take more sharp?

Many pictures I take look soft like this one:
Sometimes even under sunlight subjects look like that, although normally the strong light of the sun makes them sharp.
So, is there a camera setting I can use, or should I use Photoshop?
Thanks!

Added (1). OK, I don't remember what settings I used, but this is the JPG

Is a nikon d3100 battery compatible with the nikon d3200?

Originally I was looking for a battery grip, and I can't find one. The battery grip for the d3100 is not compatible with the d3200. Does anyone know if they carry the same battery?

How to use a 52mm IR Infrared Pass 950nm Standard Filter?

Recently I bought an IR Filter instead of a cut out filter for long exposure. I'd like to know how I'm to use this, and what it's for rather than it just sitting around my room. I have a Nikon D5100 with an okay understanding of photography, if someone could tell me how I'm to set up this camera with the filter attached and get decent photos, I would very much appreciate it.

Which camera is best? And why?

I'm looking to upgrade to a more pro camera and was thinking which of these is best: Nikon D5100, Sony a65, Sony a57. And why is it the best. If you think of another camera, better, include it and why. My limit is at least $1, 000 but I don't want a camera that's just cheaper I want great picture taking camera HQ. Thanks in advance.

Nikon D3000 Speedlight Flash?

I want a flash for my D3000. I've just bought a Yongnuo YN460.It appears that the camera doesn't 'know' there's a flash on top as it tries to deploy the built in setting. Also, there's no TTL mode on teh flash, what disadvantage is that? Thanks

Added (1). Would something like this help with the settings situation, i.e. Not having to fiddle with everything?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/...1025597197

also, the Aperture dominant setting seems to be ok as I understand that the best, so letting the camera automatically do the shutter speed seems ok.

I'm using the camera just for messing aroud with friends, so not for anything professional, just taking fun, decent pics really

Added (2). I'vw seen in a few places this table for aperture/distance, my flash doesn't have one… It also doesn't have a setting for changing the sync speed. It has a power level output and thats the only thing you can vary on the actual flash. Hmm, this thing seems to suck:/ lol. I've just got it in Aperture dominant setting and chaning to f number accordingly really, seems to be working fine, much nicer than with the built in flash
