I currently have a Nikon D3000 and it's good to take pictures but since most DSLRs have HD video now I have been strongly considering getting a new camera with video. I've been thinking of getting the NIkon 1 J1, but people have been saying it isn't a great camera, I'm far from a professional photography, i take pictures for fun but I want something more than a point & shoot camera.

Okay so I have been trying to decide for a very long time

Okay so I realize that the canon is better for video and the nikon better for photos so many people say go for the canon however but I prefer the nikon but there are a few problems there's not full manual control in video also I don't know I'm going tosound like a noob here but I'm only 14 so yeah the bot shoe is different on the nikon so how can you fit the external mi in or is it a cold shoe or something also I want to be abl to add a boom mic and just generally which us better and why do I really need full manual control will I regret not having it?

To be honest these are just a bunch of cameras I got off a top 10 site. I have £500. I've been looking around for about an hour looking at cameras which seemed too expensive but were in dollars. So there's probably some better ones out there not on this list. If you know of any could you mention them.

Added (1). Just for anybody that may be wondering, I've had a DSLR for years, I sold the entire camera system to make way for a new one. A big reason for wanting a new DSLR is for video capability.

I'm a photographer and I want to pursue videography as well. So my current photography gear is a D90 and I hate the video on it, but I don't want to change to full frame just yet because of the price. I've looked around and the sony NEX VG20E looks best to me. But I was wondering is there some kind of lens adapter that would allow me to put my current Nikon lens onto the sony NEX VG20E so that I wouldn't have to buy more lens?

and so you mean that with this adapter, it is impossible for auto focus even if I already have auto focus on my nikon lens?
