Good photo editing software?

I have a Nikon d5000, and I shoot in. RAW format I need something on my desktop to open theses photos with?

You should check out a software by MAGIX called Photo & Graphic Designer, http://www.magix.com/gb/photo-editing/. When I switched from MAC to PC I wanted to try an alternative to Photoshop for photo editing. As well as being much cheaper I found it very easy to accomplish tasks and editing. It also supports RAW formats including your camera model. There's a free trial available.
