What is a better overall walk around lens: the 16-85mm or 18-70mm? I would like to keep this lens on my D7000 most of the time. Also what would be a good Nikon Macro lens that Is not too expensive?

I recently got a Nikon D3100 and I really want to use it on 4th of July to take pictures of the firework show in my town so does anyone know any tips that will help me take good pictures of fireworks using a nikon D3100 and a 18-55mm lens?

What is the aperture on the camera?
I don't understand WHAT the aperture is on my camera (Nikon d5100) as well as the role it plays in exposure, shutter speed and depth-of field, and HOW it can be adjusted.
My understanding is that the aperture limits the amount of light passing through the lens, where a smaller aperture lets in limited light, and a large aperture lets in lots of light. Please correct me if I'm wrong and go into more detail.

Where does one find a replacement rubber pad for the thumb rest on a Nikon D5000?
I have searched online and come up with no results. I don't want to spend $16 on "justanswer" or whatever it is that Nikon uses - I will need that to get the part! Is that something my local camera store would have on hand?

Nikon D5000 autofocus problem?
My Nikon, while in auto focus mode, dose not take a picture. It will focus in, then not take a picture. It takes pictures fine on manual, just not on auto

Sorry if this sounds stupid - I've had my Nikon D5000 for almost exactly a year now and I'm still learning the ropes. When shooting in manual I've noticed that the shutter speed goes to 30 seconds then goes to a Bulb setting. What does this mean?

Concert Photography Help! With Nikon D3100?
I have a Nikon D3100 and I've noticed that it isn't the greatest in low light situations. I do enjoy shooting pictures at concerts but my only lens isn't helping me out that much. I was wondering what kind of lens would be good for me to buy that would be able to perform well in low light and have a zoom? I also enjoy doing landscape and portrait.
