What Nikkor lens to get?

What is a better overall walk around lens: the 16-85mm or 18-70mm? I would like to keep this lens on my D7000 most of the time. Also what would be a good Nikon Macro lens that Is not too expensive?

If you already have the 18-55mm then that should do it. If none, I would prefer the 16-85mm just for the wider angle of view. Personally I would go for a 35mm f/1.8 instead. As for macro lenses, select the one that has the minimum focusing distance you will most likely be working on.

I agree, with the 16-85, you will not have to back up all the time to get everything in a wide shot. 18mm on a cropped sensor is not very wide… Which leaves me wondering why Canon and Nikon (and the other big names in digital photography) have not caught onto this and made their kit lenses wider such as 17mm or 16mm. For a macro lens, I would suggest the full frame 60mm 2.8 micro lens (AF-S) from nikon… It'll be a 90mm equivalent on the D7000, which in my opinion is much better than the 85mm 3.5 micro that nikon makes for dx bodies.
