Nikon D3100 Pros and Cons?

Pros and cons
Is this good for a beginner photographer?

Pros and cons are what you make of it. It is opinionated. Personally, I find it a con that DSLR cameras have video recording.
nonetheless, the D3100 is a very capable camera with the capacity to yield excellent results. Whether or not you get the results that you want to get depends on you, the photographer.
the D3100 was just replaced by the D3200, which, if you can get it, would be a better choice.

The 3100 is an excellent camera for a beginner as long as that beginner understands that buying a nice camera will not automatically enable him/her to take nice pictures.
Also consider buying the newer 3200.
You'll also need a genuine spare battery, 2 or 3 8GB Class 10 SDHC cards, a card reader, a case and several basic photography books.

It's a very decent entry level camera. You get what you pay for.

There are no cons, it's an amazing camera - especially for the price.
Make sure to factor in the cost of memory cards, cleaning equipment and a bag.

Pro, it's cheap. Con, it's crippled and is actually more difficult to use than more equipped higher end models.

Poor pay twice!
D3100 is good for a beginner photographer.
BUT
What you will do after 6 months when you will not be a "beginner"? After One year you will be searching and researching for more advance camera.
So, start aiming at upper end camera!
