What does Nikon D7000's 2016-pixel RGB metering mean in practice?

I decided to do studio photography and I'm planning on buying the Nikon D7000 when it comes out.
So my question is: what would be the best portrait lens for it?
I know there's a close up lens where you can only capture the face or the shoulders of the model.
But What I want is the whole subject(body) Like modeling pictures!
Indoor and Out door lenses.

I'm looking for a some electronic stores (or any store) that sells Nikon D3000.im thinking of buying one but i want to be able to talk to someone when i buy it. Also, some stores match prices to only other stores (I.E. Not an online store like Amazon, Ebay ect… ) you have to be able to walk into it basically.

If anyone knows the potential price of that camera on a sale or on Black Friday, i will pick your answer!

How long will it take my Nikon D40 to get cleaned?

I have a Nikon D40 and I'm about to send it in to the Geek Squad for them to send it off to their camera-cleaning center.

I'm asking them to fix a couple things:
1. The shutter release button is not working
2. There's a lot of dust in both of my lens' (18-55mm and my 55-200mm)

How long will this take?
I live in Atlanta, however I forget where their camera center is located.

Also - if you've sent your camera off to get cleaned - how was the service when you got it back? Was everything you needed corrected fixed properly and remained that way?

Buying new DSLR camera?

So i'm looking at either getting the Nikon D5000 or the Canon Rebel XSI but i havnt made up my mind yet. All i'm wondering is what accessories should i get for my camera? I'm also doing lots of long exposure photography so should i get a tri-pod?

Is the Nikon D40 still worth buying in 2010?

I'm going to be taking an introductory photography class in the spring and am looking to purchase a DSLR camera, preferably in the five to six hundred dollar range. I'm interested in street, portrait, and landscape photography and would like a camera that I can grow with for a few years as I consider photography as a career. I have done research on many DSLRs and have read good reviews on the Nikon D5000 and stellar reviews on the Nikon D40. My question is this: Is the Nikon D40 still worth buying today, especially since I can get a brand new camera for a little more than a used D40? I realize that newer is not always better, but for those of you who own the D40 and love it, what do you love about it, is it a camera that will last me at least a few years, and what are your reasons for not upgrading?

Will Nikon TF-362 flash remote work on my D3000?

I was wondering if Nikon TF-362 studio strobe remote would work on my D3000. As far as I read it works on D5000 and D90 and if I'm correct most of the things that work on D5000 work on D3000 too. Any idea?

How to adjust the White Balance on my Nikon D5000?

I was just reading in an Exposure book about White Balance, but the book didn't actually say how to change it. So where on my camera can I adjust the White Balance? I have the Nikon D5000, if that helps at all.
I'm a beginner Photographer, and i'm still trying to grasp all the settings and terms, so if you can make it as simple as possible that would be great!
