Shutter button/release on Nikon D40 seems loose?

The shutter button/release [whatever the technical term for it] seems a little bit loose. If I gently move it in a circle, it will move around. It still takes photos and everything but I'm worried that it'll become an issue. I got a 3 year warranty from Target where I got it from but they discontinued the camera. If it does become an issue, is there a way to replace the shutter button? I seem to be having nothing but problems with my camera lately and it's really stressful lol.

Added (1). Yes, it just started to do that recently.

Nikon D5000 good for a semi-amateur photographer?

I've been using a film canon AE-1 for about a year and a half now, and I also have a Sony DSC H20 and I'm very familiar with both. So I know a lot about cameras and how to use them, but I definitely wouldn't call myself a professional or anything. I'm looking for a camera that is easy to use but has more settings and options than a point and shoot. I have my eyes on a Nikon D5000; it's the best for my wants. I also have no budget.

So do you think the Nikon D5000 is good or do you have any other recommendations?

Can I use this shutter cable release to take star trail photos?

Yo, people. I've been wanting to buy a cable release for my Nikon D70 and I found a good one that works with it. So if I buy it, would it be able to take 15-30+ minute star trail photos? I know how to take them, I just don't have a cable release.

Thanks.

Cheers

How to fix a broken LCD on an SLR?

Last night my Nikon D3000 was in the car, and when I woke up this morning I found the LCD screen displaying a crack running from the right side to the left. The camera turned on fine but half of the screen is now black with thin white lines running. I don't know what that means. The other half shows the menu and the photographs. I took some photographs but the camera has stopped focusing. Don't know what to do!

Nikon 18-35mm lens-edge of photo blurry?

I have a Nikon D40 and primarily I use the 18-35mm kit lens. I've had it for about a year and a half now and I've been having some problems with it. Well, first of all, sometimes it will be in auto mode but the if I touch the lens[the part where you would focus it if it's in manual] it'll twist and click. Once I take a picture, though, it goes back to normal but it's been doing that quite often lately. But that's not really a problem.

What I noticed today was that when I take a photo, the majority of it will be in focus but one edge/side will be blurry like there's a fingerprint on it. I cleaned the lens, both ends, and it seems to have made a little bit of a difference. But the areas of out of focus seem larger than they used to be. And it seems to have a harder time focusing.

I hate to think of having to replace the lens… Or God forbid, my camera. I think it's the lens though. I haven't tried my zoom lens to see if it's working better with that one. But I think since I've had problems with it it's the lens. I just wish it wasn't giving me grief lol. It's like 112.99 to replace it on Amazon and I just don't have the cash at the moment. Any ideas why it might be doing this/am I just paranoid?

Added (1). Ha you're right… I meant to put 18-55mm. Sorry for the confusion!

Which lens would be best for a nikon d3000 a 50mm f1.8 or 50 mm f1.4?

I want one with a large aperture but have been told as the nikon d3000 is only a entry level camera neither of these lenses will work well. Is this true? What other cheap cameras would you recommend instead?
