Canon 1D Mk II N or Nikon D7000?

I Have the option of getting a Canon 1D Mk II N or a Nikon D7000, opinions?

Very different classes of cameras meant for very different users. The 1DMarkIIn was a professional camera originally released in 2005.It has been replaced twice since then by the Mark III and current Mark IV versions that offer a number of significant improvements. That said, the camera is now and has always been a large and heavy "brick" by comparison to consumer grade DSLRs like Nikon's new D7000.
In many ways, the newer D7000 will out perform the older camera and if this is your first DSLR, the D7000 may be a much better choice for you. Conversely, people who, like me, already own several Canon DSLRs and lenses, can find use for an older pro-body like the 1DmkIIn because of its speed, build quality and the ability to autofocus with lenses as slow as f/8. This is a benefit to those of us who can't afford to spend $5, 000 to $10, 000 on lenses like the EF 300mm f/2.8L, 400mm f/2.8L or 600mm f/4L IS USM. Instead, you can put a $300, 1.4x or 2x teleconverter on a lens like the EF 300mm f/4L IS USM that only costs $1, 500 and retain autofocus.
