How long does the Nikon repair centre usually take to repair point-and-shoot cameras?
I think it's got a sticky shutter as when I turn it on, the lens zooms out but the screen is black and won't take photos. How long do these things usually take to fix as I'm going on holiday in less than 3 weeks…
Nikon or Canon? Which is usually better?
Referring to DSLR cameras, what is better- Nikon or Canon? I'm speaking generally now… I know there are many models, but in general what is better? And WHY?

Setting the aperture on a 35-70mm lens?
I never used a 35mm film slr camera before. On the Nikon FM10's kit lens the aperture is 3.5-4.8 I think. If I set the aperture ring to 3.5 i can use it at 35mm but at longer focal lengths how does that work? It's not a constant aperture lens. I know on a DSLR it will automically choose the next f stop usable on the focal length I think that's how it is.
Added (1). Mmm so If I set the aperture to let say f4 at 70mm which is not possible will there be a light indicating I have to put a smaller aperture?
Are similar lenses from different brands about the same?
I recently purchased a Canon and I was just over at my friends place and was messing around with his Nikon and I found the lens surprisingly good for the price he bought it for which was a 28-80mm f/3.3 - 5.6 now would the Canon 28-80mm f/3.5 - 5.6 be of comparable quality despite the small difference in focal range or would they be a big difference
Which cameras are compatible with a Tou/five star 28mm lens?
I just got a new camera for christmas, a Nikon FG SLR, and two lenses. TOU/five star 28mm, and a nikon lens series E. I'm a beginner when it comes to photography and I've been told that I got a pretty good camera to start off with. The problem is that the body is not working. When I put the batteries in and look into the viewfinder eyepiece I can't see the red LEDs, anyways long story short I need a body that will be compatible with both lenses. Please and thank you for your time.
Entry level digital camera. Which one to buy?
I will buy a digital camera within 100 - 200 dollars. I need advice on which brand to buy Nikon or sony (i removed canon and olympus because i don't wanna buy them) and which model to buy. Alright so here's my delimna. I'm In search of what brand and model I should search for. I realize condition and prices and such have a big part to play in what I'll actually purchase but I've narrowed it down to these two.
I already looked at the Minolta X-700, Canon F1 and Pentax K1000 and I find that the Nikon F2 and FM3 are better in the end and closer to what I'm looking for. I'm looking for durability and as many options as possible but still fully manual when wanted.
The real question is what's the difference between these two models? I understand the FM2 was a cheaper and lighter weight version of the F2 on paper but it seems to have faster shutter speeds and flash synch. So I'm not understanding the reason why some say the F2 is still best. And the reason I'm asking between the F2 and FM3 is because the FM3 is obviously an upgraded version of the FM2.
Any other model or even brand suggestions are welcome!
How to tell which fisheye lens has a wider angle?
For example i was looking on ebay at 52mm lens for my nikon and next to some it may say like x brand.18x fisheye lens. So what i want to know is would a.18x lens have a wider angle then a.3x?
