Nikon vs Canon. Which do you prefer?

I'm thinking of buying a DSLR camera but I don't know which company is better. Right now I'm thinking of going with Nikon, but please leave your thoughts below and please explain.

Actually there's no "better". Both companies have been at this for many decades and are chosen by professionals all over the world for their attention to technical quality and detail. Either brand will give you a good photo experience, if you take the time to learn how to properly operate a dslr.

I'm a Canon owner and I only recommend what I own and therefore know. I'd recommend any camera in the Canon Rebel line from the t3 to the t3i. All are excellent and will last you for many years.

Between the two there's no better company or camera. That's why I go for Pentax.

What makes you think one is really better than the other? Like, that you need to ask this question even though millions of beginners wonder the same. If one brand was really better than the other you would already know and why would Canon even compete with Nikon if they made horrible cameras.

Really, it's you who takes pictures, not the camera.
