Good camera to start with? - 1

I'm currently using a canon powershot S3 IS and it's nice but I have to share it with my mother. While she doesn't use it as much as I do it'd be nice to have my own camera. I've got a fair amount of experience with this camera so I think I might able to handle something more advanced. Any suggestions under $700, preferably wither canon or nikon?

Pentax K-r worth buy? - 1

These days i came across PENTAX DSLR and the photos taken by them in flickr are so so sharp! From my point of view, the IQ is way much better and sharper than probably CANON and NIKON. I started get interested with it but why is it seems like there are not much PENTAX user in this world compared to canon and nikon? And is it worth for me to buy? Is it really much better than canon and nikon?

Problems with uploading pics to my computer since I got a new camera?

I bought a new camera, and I'm currently using my old SD memory card that I used on my other camera I had no problem with loading my pics up from that memory card to my computer, but now that I'm using it on my new camera every time I try to upload pics it says "The filename, directory name or volume lable syntax is not correct". What does this mean? Its the same SD card I've been using for years its a kodak SD and I was using it in my fugi film digital cam & had no problems then now that I'm using it in my nikon digi cam it won't upload pics to my laptop its says what I typed above. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Tablet like the ipad 2 or camera?

I want to buy the iPad 2 this April, but its expensive. Even though the second one is coming out, it will still be $400. I want a tablet that is cheaper (of course) and that has the front/back camera, video editing, and good camera quality. I most need one for making/editing videos. I also have considered a Nikon l120 camera but would it be better for me to get a tablet or some kind of camera? Also this is off topic but can you download movies/tv shows on tablets for free like you can on ipad?

Best mirrorless camera (s)?

I've been looking at ones from Nikon, Panasonic, and Olympus and I'm still not sure which one I like the best. I'll be using it mainly for traveling.

Not a huge fan of dslr cameras because they're too big to carry around, I'm practically a beginner, and I don't think I'd use it very often.

Nikon d1300, MacBook, Television or something else?

I recently had a Sweet 16 and I was trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the money I received. I really want a Nikon d1300 but I'm afraid I wouldn't use it too much because photography isn't something I would want to do in the future, but I want a good quality camera. I also want a MacBook because I would use it for school and for easy use of surfing the Internet. But I have an iPad that can go on the Internet but the iPad is limited because there's no Flash on the iPad as well as other things. I also wanted a television for my room with a built in DVD player so I could watch movies in my room. I have always wanted one and this could be my chance to get it. Of course I want to save some, and use some for clothes and things that I need. What do you think I should do?

Anybody have any photography tips?

Okay, so last week I got a new nikon SLR camera, because I want to get into photography, I find it really interesting. However, I'm stuck on things to take photos of and how to make the photo look really professional. I'm at home and it's freezing outside, so I'd rather take photos of items in the house. Any ideas?

Also any other tips on photography?
