What's a decent Nikon telephoto/zoom lens for low-light sports?

We've got a AF-S VR-Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8G, but it was recently broken. We're debating on sending it in to have it fixed, but we also want to price new lenses just in case we would be better off getting a new one. I'd prefer not going with the VR-II, as it's fairly pricey. I'm hoping to find something sub-$2, 000 that will perform well in low-light. The zoom on this one is a bit high for our photographers' tastes, as this lens pulls double duty for portraiture and whatnot, as well.

Thanks!

Added (1). We could certainly go with a non-Nikon branded lens, too. I've been looking at the Tamron line of lenses.

Where can you get Nikon F-Mount Lenses?

I want to get a Nikon FM camera with a few lenses, which is an F-Mount camera, but the only lenses I can find online are for Nikkor mount cameras. Does anybody know where I could find F-Mount lenses or Nikkor mount cameras?

Which lens to buy for my DSLR?

I have a Nikon D 5100. After a bit of photography with the kit lens I have started looking out for zoom lenses and have zeroed onto two lenses, both Tamron. What i'm wondering is should i go for a dedicated zoom lens 70-300 mm or should i go for a more all purpose lens 18-270 mm. The reviews of both suggest that both are good, the 70-300 mm is cheaper ($400 after mail in rebate) while the 18-270 mm is for $500 (after mail in rebate). The reviews also indicate that the 70-300 mm is a little better in terms of border and centre sharpness and also better with chromatic aberration. But the advantage of the 18-270 mm lens is that you just need to carry one lens. What is your opinion on this? Is it worth sacrificing a bit of quality for ease of use (no changing of lens)?

My lens is blurry? Sorta?

Okay so I've been using my fisheye lens for awhile and today I just decided to put on my 18 - 55mm Nikon VR NIKKOR lens.
When I started snapping pictures I noticed the whole thing was slightly (but noticeable) blurry. It seems to be more blurry around the edges.
It's not a smuge or anything seeing I took a cloth and wiped off all the glass & mirrors.
I know it's inside the lens cause my other ones are fine.

* FYI I always keep my lenses in a bag and with there caps.

Which Nikkor lens would be better - a 35mm or 50mm prime?

I have purchased a 50mm f/1.8 prime but need to know if I could go for a 35mm f/1.8 instead because I have the option to get it exchanged with the difference of money. Also, I have 18-105mm (kit lens) and a 55.300mm. Would it be advisable that I get the 18-105mm exchanged with a 18-55mm (kit lens) and get some money back to spend on some other accessories?

Okay some questions!:

1. Can i use my f80 lenses and dslr lenses on both cameras
2. What nikon dslr should i get. I'm not on a huge budget but i don't want to be buying another for a good few years!
3. What are good places to buy from?
