Which Nikkor lens would be better - a 35mm or 50mm prime?
I have purchased a 50mm f/1.8 prime but need to know if I could go for a 35mm f/1.8 instead because I have the option to get it exchanged with the difference of money. Also, I have 18-105mm (kit lens) and a 55.300mm. Would it be advisable that I get the 18-105mm exchanged with a 18-55mm (kit lens) and get some money back to spend on some other accessories?
Do not change your 18 to 105 for the 18 to 55, the latter is designed as an inexpensive 'starter' lens, the 18 to 105 has had good reviews.
To see the difference between 35 and 50mm, simply set your zoom to 35, then to 50, and note the difference in angle of view, then you will be able to make a choice. Basicaly the 35mm is a slightly long 'standard' lens, the 50mm is better for portraits with a more restricted view. Only you can make that choice.
Primes… Try out the focal length with your 18-105, see how you like it.
Zooms… You seem very, very unsure about your gear. I do wonder why. Explore that uncertainty and you will find answers.
Sounds like you have little or no idea about the use of lenses…
firstly, do you know WHY you need a prime lens… Or did you just hear someone say they were good, but without any true knowledge…
