Best ballhead w/ QR for super-telephoto zoom?

I'm not new to photography but I'm new to the "extras" - external lighting, tripods, etc. Trying to piece together a hiking-friendly tripod kit that will support a lot of heft and won't drain my bank account. Have decided on a Gitzo set of legs, and have decided I'd like a ballhead, but which?

I'll be using a D700 w/ the battery grip and the Nikkor 80-200mm and Tamron 200-500mm.

Added (1). No thanks troll, I don't visit sites I don't trust, especially not from a new-today user.

Environmental seal on Nikon D90?

My friend and I were talking cameras, and he wants to buy a D90.
He asked me about the environmental sealing on my camera and the D90.
I've got a D300s but I don't know how it is on the D90.
Could someone compare the two? JUST on environmental sealing, nothing else is necessary. I'm curious.

Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 or 70-200mm 2.8?

It's me again. Lol

I was in here asking a question the other day on whether or not to get a D7000 or a D300s. Well, I've decided on rather than getting a new camera body to opt for a new lens.

So, my question now is on whether to get a 24-70mm 2.8 or a 70-200mm 2.8 VRII? I currently own a 35mm 1.8 prime lens, an 18-55mm and 55-200mm VR lens.

Mostly, I shott pics of family and friends. I'm no pro, so this is just a hobby… That I love. That being said, I'd like to get a great lens. (No, I don't want to consider a Sigma or Tamron lens)

Here are my thoughts: I could go with the 24-70mm and get rid of my 35mm 1.8 while allowing me to keep my 55-200mm VR lens. Or I can ditch the 55-200mm VR lens and go for the 70-200mm VRII while keeping the 35mm prime lens.

Your thoughts?

Laptop or camera.what would you get first?

Macbook pro 13 inch 2011 with i 5 or nikon D300s or D7000.
I'm in dilemma - I already own - a 17 inch laptop and D40x but I want to upgrade - both are equally important to me. But I want to upgrade - which one should I go for. I can choose only one at a time now.

Nikon d3000 not working?

My Nikon d3000 is not working, it will not turn on at all. I know it is not the battery because I have two and I tried both. Last night I had a beer in my bag and it exploded all over everything, soaking my camera. (I regret not having my camera in a separate case in my bag)
Is there anything I can do? This camera is very important to me so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Added (1). Yeah you're right, after looking at prices of used d3000 bodies I'm not as worried. Thanks for the help. I will actually look into the possibility of upgrading to a better model, d300 perhaps. (and buy a smaller case for it right away so it can fit into my backpack) I will try to use this as a blessing in disguise.

D700 - Taking multiple pictures after a self timer?

I'm trying to set up the camera so it will take around 10 pictures of me after a 10 second self timer? Is this possible with the Nikon D700? Thanks!
