I want to buy a nice camera, any suggestions?

So I don't like the quality of phone cameras and I want to get an affordable camera that has better quality than an iphone or ipod touch camera. I'm not looking to be a photographer, but I'd like to take very nice photos of my vacations and just life. I want the people's faces to be recognisable and I don't like glares and such. I'm willing to spend a couple hundred, but I don't know a thing about cameras. I love one of my friend's photos and he uses a Nikon D800. Though that's way too expensive for me. Any suggestions would be nice.

What cameras are best at handling high ISOs?

I'm looking to upgrade my camera and, as I often shoot in low light or situations that require a higher ISO, I'm looking for a camera that handles high ISO's very well, with as a little noise as possible… I know the D3/3s/4 are great for that BUT I'm not looking to spend quite that much on a camera, even used they're going for over 3k and I just can't afford that. So I'm wondering if you guys may have suggestions for me on cameras that are great with high ISO's! I'm NOT a professional photographer but photography is my main hobby and I take it very seriously, I may try to go pro in the future and want a camera that a professional would use.
I'm only considering Nikon as that's what all my current gear is and I'm happy with it.
Thanks!

I have no set budget right now, and I'm willing to spend time saving up for the right camera. So, I'm not sure.

Camera Store at New Zealand to buy Nikon D7000 DSLR?

I want to buy Nikon D700 for my person use, I would like to know if Smifu would be a better option to purchase this camera, I found their price was reasonable http://www.smifu.com/nikon-d7000-18-105.html. Also this store operates from ChristChurch a place nearby my residence which will make my shipping cost much lesser.

Let me know your suggestions about Smifu, also you can suggest any other camera store( Located from New Zealand only, I don't want to spend more on shipping costs) that you consider as a good choice.

What DSLR cameras preform best at high ISO?

I've been into photography for quite a while and I really love it, but my current camera is very old(10 years) and limiting. I'm beyond ready to upgrade to something great. Because of the type of photography that I usually do, I'm looking for a camera that handles high ISO's very well. I'm only considering Nikon cameras, as that's what all my current gear is and I'm happy with it.
I know the D3/3s/4 are exceptional with high ISO performance, but I'm not sure I want to drop thousands of dollars on a camera body. I would certainly get my money's worth out of it, but it would take me quite a while to save up and be able to afford it.

What other Nikon cameras do very well with high ISOs?

Nikon D300 help needed?

I have a D300 that I'm having problems with. When I take photos with any lens the pics come out looking as if they have a slight effect t over them. I would best describe it as the paint daubs filter form photoshop. As you can imagine them means my pics are not coming out crisp looking anymore. I did have the camera and all the lens sent back to Nikon two years ago for cleaning. Also setting the camera back on default factory specs does not help.
