Are there going to be any big Nikon d3100 sales soon?
In 2 months is my birthday, and i want the nikon d3100 so bad! But i can barely afford it, and i was wondering if there are going to be any big sales soon, thanks.
I moved the manual focus ring in autofocus mode on my nikon d7000, did I ruin my camera?
I was playing around with my new Nikon D7000 and I was curious about the manual focus ring, so I moved it around while still in automatic focus mode. I'm now scared that I ruined my camera! Did I? And if so what should I do?
Photo Explosion 4.0 won't import videos? Is there something else I can use?
I just got the Nikon D3100, I tried to import the pictures and videos I took to Photo Explosion 4.0 ( The Album ).It imported the pictures but not the videos. It's imported videos before I don't know if it's my camera or what. Is there something else I can use? The windows thing ( Don't remember what it's called ) that pops up whenever you plug something in said it wouldn't work with my camera.

So I'm an amateur photographer and I've decided to buy my first DSLR camera. Since I'm a beginner, I have no idea which one I should get. I've been looking at 4 main ones: Nikon D5000, Nikon D3100, Canon XSi, Canon T1i? Which one do you think would be the best for me?

Is it safe to use Sigma lenses with my Nikon D3000?
I recently purchased the Nikon D3000, and I want a macro lens. It looks like the cheapest one is a Sigma lens, which takes good images. Would using a sigma lens on a Nikon camera damage the actual camera? If so, what cheap Nikon lens should I get for macro?
Does AF Fine Tuning vary from particular camera body and lens to the same camera and lens?
I have just watched the video review of D7000 on a website where the reviewer says that the combination of his particular camera body and lens (namely Nikkor 18-105 VR kit lens) required him to enable AF fine tuning-- he tuned to -0.5 in this respect.
I own the very same camera and lens. But as far as I understand AF fine tuning may not be required or even if required I may need to tweak it to another degree with my own D7000 and kit lens, because in respect of AF fine tuning a particular D7000 body may perform different than another D7000 body and the same is true for the lens as well.
Is that true?
Getting started in Photography as a hobby?
My wife and I received a Nikon D5000 camera.
I always have been curious about photography and seeing some friends photos, the hobby looks fun. I love the outdoors and love taking pictures. We live on Long Island, NY so we live close the ocean and the city. I think I want to photograph crowds, buildings and I do not know what else.
I do not know where to begin. I have only used point and shoots before.
Can anybody suggest some good starting points and other ideas to begin?
