Nikon D3100 lens broke? - 1

The lense that came with my nikon fell and broke into three pieces, the mount, this thing that I'm guessing enables the lense to zoom in/out. Without that piece I can see the circits and wires and all that. And then finally the lense. Will I be able to fix it? Or should I buy a new one? I have insurance but I don't know if it covers that.

I doubt your insurance covers dropping it, but you can try. And I seriously doubt it can be fixed. If it can, it'll probably cost more than a new lens.

This is the reason camera makers supply a neck strap.
