Cameras like the nikon d90?

Wanting to buy myself a good camera for photography. I only have a digital camera but am looking for something better. I don't really know where to start looking, but my friend has the nikon d90 and it is really good and i think it is exactly what i'm looking for. But i'm not 100% sure because i don't really know what to look for or if there's anything else better out there that is similar. Any suggestions of any other dslr cameras i would like or that are slightly better, or any reviews on this camera?

I have owned a Nikon D90 for 2yrs now and I would highly recommend it. Where you are advancing from a point and shoot camera the D90 is an excellent choice for the advancement in photography. Your friend can be of great help to you where he already is familiar with the D90. What's great about the SLR's is that you can purchase different lenses to accommodate any shooting situation. What ever you choose for a SLR you will be moving into a whole new world of photography.
