500mm Telephoto Lens for Nikon D3100?

Hi, I bought this item from ebay and just received it. I have a problem using this lens. I tried taking pictures without flash outdoor and it comes out to be dark. Outside right now its cloudy. I tried taking with flash and it comes out to be too bright. This lens must be on manual mode. I tried every single iso setting and it is either too bright with flash or too dark without flash. Anyone please help me or tell me what setting I should put on. I need help with this lens. Is this lens good for outdoor like the beach in a sunny day? Because I can't seem to find the right mode or know how to use this correctly!

Which lenses to take on vacation?

I'm going on vacation to Disney World with my family in a few weeks, and I plan on taking massive amounts of photos there. I currently have a Nikon D3100 with the kit 18-55 VR lens as well as a 10.5 mm fisheye. I'm taking both of them on vacation, probably going to be using the 18-55 as my walkaround, and use the fisheye to take some interesting shots of the interior of the plane on my ride there, and also some interesting perspectives while walking around. I was thinking about also renting a wide angle or ultra wide angle lens for the trip, I think they would make for some great shots outside of the entrances and castles. What do you guys think? Should I just go with the lenses I have now or rent a wide angle lens too?

What model Nikon SLR to buy, relatively inexpensive?

I've decided that I need a digital SLR for school. After reading reviews on the internet and using some of my friends' cameras, I've decided to go with Nikon. But I can't decide which model. Obviously I'm on a budget since I'm a student, and I'll have to buy a used one. Can anyone give me reasons in plain black and white, which would be better- d50, d70/d70s, or d40. From what I can tell, the d90 is out of my price range, even used. I'm wanting to stay below $400. Also, the type of photography I need it for is high resolution, high contrast documentation (I'm an architecture student). But I also want something that is versatile and can be used for outdoors and sports.

Nikon lens for sport photography?

I'm looking to get started in sport photography, specifically football, but I'm on a budget. I'm in school and would start out by shooting for my school teams. I have a nikon D5000 (with 18-55mm vr + 55-200mm f4.5-5.6 vr) but these lenses are not long enough for sport and I was wondering what lens is needed for football?
I have found the listed lenses and would like to which ones you think I should get or whether you know of you have any other lenses?
1.sigma 120-400mm f4.5-5.6
2.sigma 150-500mm f4.5-6.3
3.sigma 100-300mm f4 (no os)
4.nikon 300mm f4 (no vr) (450mm on D5000)
5.nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 vr

I've just purchased a Nikon D3100. I was experimenting with the manual mode. Even though I rotated the command dial to change the shutter speed, I can't understand how I'm supposed to chnge the aperture. Help please?

Added (1). Neither the manual book nor the PDF say anything about HOW TO use the manual mode.

Problem with Nikon D60 photos?

Recently whenever I take photos with my Nikon D60 the photos look really weird. I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it. I'm wondering if it is a setting problem or if it is a hardware problem. Also if it is a hardware problem how much am I looking at to get it fixed. Here is a link to a photo showing what is going on.

Added (1). I've tried 2 different lenses and they both have the same problem. I've also can't figure out what setting would cause this.
