DSLR buying help on a budget? Camcorder a better option?

I have a budget of £200-300 and am looking for a decent DSLR. I have narrowed my searches down to the Canon 550d or the Nikon d3100 but they are too expensive (unless you can find one in my price range!) The main reason I want it for is for full HD movie that can include movie aperture (depth of field when shooting), manual focus, a decent in built microphone and external mic port. If there I'm wrong and there's a camcorder that can do this then still brilliant! I love photography so that is why I'm edging towards a DSLR because I can use it in that aspect, although I already own a Fujifiilm Finepix S2800hd
Thanks!

The d3100 is a good camera, but it is not better, but rather it is comparable to the 500/550D. But the problem with the d5000 is the same with the d3100, it still can't use all the nikon lenses with AF. The AF is from the d5000 so the canon is still the better action AF system. It will shoot at 12800iso so it equals both canon's.
