How to fix my flash on my camera?

I have a nikon d60 and the flash does not go off. It opens up like normal, but no flash.
I think I bumped or hit the camera which caused this.
How do I fix it for free and without messing up my camera?

A good dslr for a beginner?

I'm getting a camera for christmas, just i'm not sure which one to get. I would like an entry level dslr, not a pro one yet. I'm no expert just more of a beginer needing more practice. I've been told by friends to get a nikon or canon but i'd like some other opinions. I'd mainly be using it for nature and people portraits and in the future some macro. Also if i should buy any additional lenses that would be of use to me or just to stick with a kit for now. Cost isn't a worry right now so i'm open for anything. I've been told to get a D3100 and i've checked it out but i'm not sure if i'd be better with a more recent version or not. So any help is appreciated.

Please critique my VERY first Newborn shoot

I was so excited to do this shoot for my cousin. Baby boy is 5 days old. All shot with Nikon D3000, 50mm 1.8 lens (manual). No flash, window light from angle. I'm learning manual mode, so some are taken in and out of M, Iso 200 in all.

External mic for d5100? Lavalier Microphones?

Is it possible to plug a lavalier microphone to Nikon's D5100?
I know that d5100 allows external microphones of 3.5mm jack, but I'm not sure of the technicalities of lavalier mics.

Can someone recommend me a cheap and decent lavalier mic?

My friend is getting married but can't afford a photographer and asked me to take some pictures for her. The wedding will be in a lower lit church and the reception will be in a low lit basement and I want to give the best possible pictures I can but am unsure if my lens will work or not. I have a tamron 18-270. My aperture starts at 3.4. I don't have the money to go buy equipment or anything but just wanted to see if I needed to hunt around for a good deal on a lens that would work better. I have a Nikon D3000 camera. Just wanting her day to be as good with pictures she can cherish.

My Nikon D40 is making a noise when the shutter is half depressed. Is this normal?

When I half depress the shutter button a sound like something is spinning on the inside. It doesn't turn off right away when I undepress the shutter. Is this normal?
