I'm NOT a professional photographer and I do need a camera but I need an hd camera most of all, that's why I've decided to get a dslr. These are the two that I've settled on and I would like to know if anyone has an opinions on these two cameras.

Sony a580? Nikon D60? Nikon D5000? Nikon D70? Nikon D3000?
As far as picture quality, I want a camera that takes beautiful crisp photos and these are all the suggestions I heard at work today. So can you please lend me your opinion

So I'm in search of a good quality Nikon or Canon in the 500$ range, and in particular, this one. I take mostly closeups, abstract, and scenery shots, and lighting and color are the two biggest factors in my pictures. So is this type of camera good quality in the first place, and would it be the best for my type of pictures? If not which camera would?
Is 30sec the longest the shutter will be open on D5100 Nikon?
If so is there any way to make it longer?

How to post process my IR photos?
I've been working with a nikon d5100 and a 720nm IR filter. I keep getting the very red photos which is expected but I can't get them to process right afterwords. I have access to adobe photoshop elements 8. You can find a copy of the image that I'm trying to process here:

Can anyone tell me what's the difference between 9 21 and 39 point AF? They all seem to allow me to select a single AF point where I want on the screen and do exactly the same job.
