My nikon D70 will only take a picture when i point it towards lights, what am I doing wrong?

A lot of tutorials I'm reading talk about focusing.Am I missing something? Doesn't it auto focus? The lens just zooms in & out.

Why does my video stop all of a sudden on my d7000?
Sometimes when I'm recording Full HD video with my Nikon D7000 it only records for about 30 seconds and then just says 'video recording has stopped unexpectedly'. Something like that anyway.
Does anyone know why? I'm using a Panasonic SDHC 8GB class 10 card with read 90, write 25mb/s.
It doesn't do it all the time. For instance I just recorded a 2 min. Clip. No issues.
Does anyone know why it would be doing this? Or has it happened to you?

Added (1). I do have a SanDisk Extreme class 10 45mb/s card as well and its a 16GB. Picked that baby up for about $35 on sale at best buy. I have that in my #1 slot for pictures and the panny card in #2 slot for video. Maybe I should switch them.

Nikon d3100 lens moves up And down-?
My lens moves up And down. Not on the mount to the camera, but on the end Of the lens that goes out And in, is it broke or is this normal? Also when i try to focus in all the way it gets stuck in a certain spot. I can focus it, it just takes a little extra force.

I'm a high school student going into photography and someone wants me to have a photo session with her and six of her friends. We would probably go out in NYC, which isn't too far away. How much do I charge for that? Do I charge per hour? I have a Nikon D5100 and Photoshop so I would edit the photos as well. I would probably end up giving them the photos on a CD.
