Nikon d3100 lens moves up And down-?
My lens moves up And down. Not on the mount to the camera, but on the end Of the lens that goes out And in, is it broke or is this normal? Also when i try to focus in all the way it gets stuck in a certain spot. I can focus it, it just takes a little extra force.
Not normal. Is the camera new? If so call Nikon about warranty work. If not new, is it an older lens?
Perhaps time to replace it. There's no fix you can do.
Sometimes new zoom lenses - especially consumer grade - can have a different feeling in the zoom. I would not go so far as say it is binding, but it may take a bit more pressure to move it through the zoom range. But this usually goes away about a month or so after use.
However, focus should not ever get stuck or have any binding sensation. That usually means bad. However, if you sent in your lens warranty when you bought the camera, you have a 5yr warranty, so you may want to send the lens in for a check up.
It sounds like it has been knocked. It certainly isn't normal. If it is new, take it back and get it replaced.
