Best flashes for a nikon d40x?

I currently have a nikon d40x. The flash stopped working and the screws are stripped, i found a way to fix the flash online but because of the screws i'm unable to fix it.
I'm just going to buy an external flash because it would cost less then sending it out to be fixed.
I would like a adjustable flash but anything at this point would be great. I usually take portraits if that helps at all. Please help me if you can!

Added (1). That flash looks fantastic, and if i can't find anything cheaper i would most likely save up for it.
but anything that is on the cheaper side (maybe less then 100) would be ideal. I know no flash is going to be perfect and under 100 i just need something to get me by with portraits

but if the nikon sb-400 is really the best and cheapest i can get i would absolutely buy it. I just need some help!

I'm looking to upgrade from the Nikon d40x?

I'm looking to upgrade from my Nikon d40x. I have an offer to buy a friends very well taken care of d3000, but I'm worried the "upgrade" will leave me disappointed. I'm looking into the d90, but want to make sure it's really worth the money.Am I going to see the difference? Does it give me better options on focal points? I know it's not the camera that makes the picture, but the photographer… But I want to make sure that I have the right tools. Thanks.

Added (1). The link the first poster put does not work?

Added (2). Thank you Jim. Unfortunately, my shutter curtain broke on my d40x, and it will cost me just as much to get a new camera as to fix it. While heartbroken, I figured the good that can come out of this is that I can splurge the couple hundred on an "upgrade". I 100% agree with the new glass… But I need a body first.

Why don't my night photos with my DSLR don't come out as i see them with my eye?

So i'm new to photography, and i have the Nikon D3000, nothing fancy. Tonight i went out the take some sunset pictures, however my camera made the pictures seem brighter than they really are, taking away from the beauty of the sunset. Why are the pictures on the camera different from how i see it with my eye?

How to continuously focus while videoing on Nikon D5000?

Hi! I ordered the Nikon D5000 last week and it arrived today and I'm wanting to know how to do a few things. I'm HOPELESS at reading the Manual and stuff because its all too confusing for me because I have no clue about cameras since I'm just starting out. So I would like to know how to get my camera to always focus while I'm taking videos?

E.g. If I'm filming people, I want it to focus on them but if I were still videoing, and I wanted to film something with writing on i, t how would I get my camera to focus to be able to read the writing too?
Sorry if it doesn't make sense. Basically, I just want it to focus everything.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Added (1). How can I manually focus while recording then to do the same thing? Which button do I use? (YET AGAIN, I don't really know what to say since I'm new to cameras)
