I broke the outer barrel of my Nikon D40x camera any suggestions?

Take it to jessops to get it fixed, it may be a little expensive but is worth it. I used to work there and they do a really good warranty on their cameras, and with a camera so expensive itl be worth getting it insured!
but if you don't want to do that its probably best selling it as parts or something, unless it has no difference to your photo taking. Then i would just leave it.

Depends on what you mean by this. If it's the lens then replace it. A new or slightly used 18-55 will be cheaper than getting it fixed. Don't throw the damaged lens away, it will fetch some money on ebay, there's always people lookingf for parts.
