Will my 25 years old 52ø Rikenon XR 1:2 50mm L lens, work on the new Nikon d5000 DSLR, using this adapter

I found a camera bundle on ebay. I'm a new photographer. I have used my mom's SLR camera and really liked it. I don't know a whole lot about SLR cameras, so help please!
Is this a good "bundle" for the price?
Is this a good camera?
If not, could you send me a link to a camera a might prefer over this one?

Does this camera also have "live view"? (like what a point and shoot has)
Is there a camera that you can recommend that has a tilt screen? My moms camera is a sony, it has a tilt screen and a "live view" option. I would really like these features, but wouldn't pass over a camera if this wasn't on it. I would probably want a canon or nikon.
Basically, I really want an affordable SLR starter camera that I could use for a while. The top price I would probably pay is around $600 for the camera body & lens, and hopefully a little bit of a bundle - memory card, camera bag, etc…
Added (1). Ok, scap all the stuff above. I have looked at reviews for the k-x and i think i like that one. It uses AA batteries which is a major plus, and it comes in different COLORS! Double plus! And its the camera of the year, which means it must be pretty good right?
now, as far as lenses go, would you go with a 50-200mm lens or a 55-300mm lens? I found them new and used. Would you buy a used lens? I use the zoom a lot as i like to take pics of landscape and such.
Added (2). I also like to take macro pics of flowers, etc.could i use the standard lens to capture these sort of images? And what are the lens hoods for? Finally, could you explain what other lenses do? (like fisheye, etc?)
sorry for all the questions but i want to get good dependable advice before i make such a major purchase!

Sigma 70-200 2.8 or Tamron 70-200 2.8?
I'm having a hard time deciding betweent these two lenses. I have a nikon d5000 and the nikon 70-200 and 80-200 is out of the story because they are to expensive, and i need a good lens now, and the 80-200 won't autofocus with my d5000.so which one is better? Sharper? I don't mind weight or which one is longer, i need help please. I do portraits so this is what it would be mainly used for
Added (1). I heard the autofocus on the Tamron version and its pretty loud, and also the Sigma i heard is faster but its not as sharp. Does anyone have sample shots comparing quality?

How to blur background for Nikon D3100?
I'm new to photography, so I was wondering. On the Nikon d3100/d5000 how do you blurthe background? When I tried it out, I couldn't blur the background when I was manually focusing, OR autofocused.

Nikon D5000 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with Extra 55-300mm VR Zoom Lens your thoughts?
This set up is probably what I will be getting for Christmas. I have never used a SLR before just a point and shoot but I'm familiar with how they work. I take mostly wildlife photos and just wanted to know, people who use this set up, how they like it. Any tips or tricks are appreciated.

Does a hot shoe flash enhance the quality of pictures?
I'm new to photography so I don't know:/
I bought a Nikon D3000 a couple months back and now we're being advised to get a hot shoe flash. I realize how much they are, but do they really do anything to the quality of pictures?
What's the difference between the automatic flash in the camera and a hot shoe flash?

Will a remote release for a Nikon D90 camera work on a D40?
It's a birthday present for my dad, and I don't want to be getting him something that doesn't work on his camera.

Is $399 a good deal for a used Nikon D40?
Camera is in good condition and comes with about $30 of peripherals.
Added (1). UPDATE: Jim asked about shutter count. It is 3000.

I have AF lens for a Nikon N65 camera. I would like to go dig -?
What would be a good camera to go with that costs less than 1, 000. I have been looking at nikon D90 and D3100

If I buy the Nikon D90 can I trade the kit lenses for a better one?
Also where could I trade it in? I live in Vancouver.
