Photography ideas and weird tricks?

I LOVE photography and I just got a new DSLR Nikon 3100.It's great, but I'm having some photographers block and don't know what I can take pictures of at the moment. I've taken photos of almost everything you can think of around where I live, so new ideas are hard to come by.

I'm looking to see if anyone has any cool tips or tricks they can tell me about taking weird photographs, such as long exposures or freeze times. If anyone has come up with some unusual styles of photography I would LOVE to hear them! Thanks!

Added (1). I'm pretty sure there just isn't anything interesting to shoot where i live…

Please I only want to know if anyone has any cool tips or tricks they think are cool.

Trying to pick a dslr, Nikon or Canon?

I'm going to use the camera for sports, low light, and daily. But most likely daily. A good sensor size would be nice but it's not really necessary. Burst mode, maximum shutter speed- not that much, and dust protection are some of the extras.

Could i use a macro lens to make a tilt shift lens for my nikon fg?

I would like to know if i could use a macro lens to make a tilt shift lens for my nikon fg, if i can what range of focal length would be ideal?

Added (1). Note* a nikon fg is a film camera, so no, i will not be editing my photos.

Added (2). If anyone could link me some specific cheap lenses that would be greatly appreciated

Does any canon dslr cameras come with a sephia button like some of the nikon models?

I'm thinking about buying a new cam. But haven't decided on which model.
I can get a nikon cheep which is tempting, But I feel for trying something new so maybe i'll go with a canon instead.
But i was wondering if any of the canon dslr comes with a sephia button like my nikon does, and if so which model

Added (1). It would really help if you people who answer could tell me what model you are referring to. It would make thing so much easier

Good first Camera to buy?

Not those small digital ones, like around $200-$300 and a name brand like Nikon, Canon etc… And that won't brake easliy.

My first classic 35mm SLR camera. Any suggestions?

I've been looking at either the Nikon F Photomic FTN or the Nikon FM2.

I know that the Pentax k1000 is a good beginner slr but I would like to be able to use the majority of my equipment when I upgrade in the future.

What is the difference between Nikon and Canon?

What would make someone who has no lens investment in either company choose a Nikon over a Canon or a Canon over a Nikon.

I want to start Photography? - 1

I will be 15 June 20th.

Photography has always been a thing of interest for me. I was always interested in photographic tumblrs. I'm completely inexperienced and know nothing really about cameras. The only camera I have is an old Nikon SLR that my dad bought in the 90's.

My mom signed me up for a Photography class over the summer for SLR beginners. I was wondering if there were any basics I should know about Photography in general. One day, eventually I want to get a DLSR but right now I think it's good for me to start with my dads old SLR.

(I DO know that the difference between a SLR and a DSLR which is one is Digital and one uses film lol)

All responses welcome!

How to tell if Camera or CF card has problem?

Camera=Nikon 5400 Card= Compact Flash
Take pics, can view them with card in camera.
Using patch cord to usb in computer, says device is malfunctioning. Patch cord is new
Take card out, both Kinko's and Walgreen's card readers say files corrupted
Cheapest CF card is at best buy for $29
Question is:
Can I assume the card is the problem, even though the camera can read it?

Even though I love my Nikon 5400 with its manual options, even the cheapest digital cameras have
way more MPs, and would probably work for me. And I can't afford the camera I would like to have
(actually right now I can't afford any camera)
